i like the looks of my SB. Plus i've managed to haul my quad, and 8' sheets of plywood in it numerous times so i can make it work for my hauling needs.

Longbox won't fit in my underground parking lot.

Shortbox will haul anything I need to haul (mountain bike, camping gear ect).

    Shortbox is better looking.

Shortbox is better offroad and in parking lots.

My choice was a no brainer.

The only thing the longbox has going for it is here in Canada Longbox=Auto/Shortbox=manual.
I prefer automatic trucks, and this Toyota 6speed isnt very good coming from VW who makes a great manual transmission.

Honda also makes notchy 6 speeds.

I agree with most that the DCLB is the best choice

Long bed. I only bought a shorty because you can't get a manual dc that way. But up here it makes it easy to see who likes to shift their own! (No dcsb autos are sold in Canada)

I dont think of it as a short bed/long bed thing... its a short bed or a regular bed.. 6 feet is not a long bed..... and personally i hate the short bed, the cut off rear fender is repulsive, and the beds usefulness is terrible...

    '13 Tacoma, double cab
This is a fascinating thread (I'm not saying it's a vital one.) My friend and I have gone over and over this. Three weeks ago I bought a DCLB. Before that I owned a Taco 2000 ext cab with a 6 foot bed. Maybe I just got used to a six foot bed, but I preferred it before I bought it and very much enjoy it. Not a real problem to park. The SB would definitely be easier in that regard, but still...

If you own a Tacoma, I respect you, SB or LB. I can see advantages, either way. It's fun to see how people utilize each. Props to all of you.

ehh. I’ll just hook up the 12’X7’ trailer and have more room with the trailer and bed then that POS has with just the bed. oh and looks like i have close to 2x as much ground clearance stock then that truck. and i can tow the trailer off road some and be fine.(fire/logging/haul roads)
