2nd gen newb. It was a real sweet piece so I'd want it too, but if it doesn't fit your truck there's no reason to screw someone else that could use it. Apparently he ended up giving it to someone else for $20..

I'm not sure his username, but Kevin from CO ended up with it. He ran Trifecta with us on Thursday. Good guy.

It was me that won the rack. It was so pumped when they called my ticket I wanted it so bad. Obviously, I didn't have a first gen, but I wanted to see how close it would be to fitting or talking to Adam about trading for a second gen. Instead I got yelled at by 60 greedy people who were pissed they didn't win. I didn't want to just pass on one of the coolest racks made for our trucks. The only reason it went for $20 was because Kevin offered me $20 for the winning ticket. Honestly, I just wanted to get out of the middle of all the angry people and at the time it seemed like the best option. I guess I am a newb at winning raffles and then having to give away what I won. Now I find myself here checking out the racks so I can buy one for my truck.

FYI: Joe(second gen owner) gave Mark(first gen owner) his extra rack and it fit.

Anyway back to the reason I am here. Are you taking anymore orders for racks Adam?

    ...too much shit to list.
You got yelled at by 60 people cause you're a douchebag...not because everyone else was greedy.

Ok, I've intentionally stayed away from the topic of the Moab Raffle, but I'm going to say what I'm gonna say and hopefully that's the end of it for everyone.

First of all, 1st Gen racks will NOT fit on 2nd Gen trucks! At least mine won't. The point being that 2nd Gen beds are actually narrower than 1st Gen beds. The bed caps and factory bed tracks on 2nd Gens are a good 3/4" narrower than a 1st Gen bed. I'm sure I could fudge the measurements and get the same design to work for both model trucks but it would be a sloppy fitment on both and I don't want that.

So back to the raffle, sorry Pete but I think you're a bit out of line saying that you had "60 greedy people" yelling at you because they didn't win. The rules were put in place before the raffle started. Bob and Jace both said, if the item being raffled was for a 2nd Gen, and a 1st Gen owner was called, they were to pass on the item. Same thing applied to 2nd Gen owners who were asked to pass on items for a 1st Gen, regardless of how cool they thought it was. I will say I'm flattered that you were that excited about one of my racks and that it appreared to be an item that the rest of the group was excited about. That was my goal in donating it, to offer something that had some value and that the winner could be stoked about. Too many times have I won crap at a raffle that was just that......crap. I appreciate the gesture of vendors who donate small ticket items and not everyone can donate big ticket things, but I felt like even with my meager skills and as a random dude, not a full blown shop/vendor I could offer something I thought people would like and show support to the people who put on the event.

Lastly, on the raffle, the rack was intended to go to a 1st Gen Owner, not a 2nd Gen owner. I did not build the rack so that it could get cut up and modified to work on a different truck. So, Pete, had you not backed out on your own I would have *politely* asked you to.

Now, to answer your question, I am still unable to take new orders and I'm not sure when I will be. It might be fall, or even later before I can get back to building new racks.

I have two racks left to build from orders already in the queue. Both racks have been started, but need to be finished up. Ipreferwater and LoudPedal, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!!! I'm sorry for the delay in getting your racks to you but I hope to have them to you shortly. I worked on them both over the weekend but ran out of welding gas. My gas supplier was closed today so hopefully tomorrow I can get a new bottle and work on them more this week.

I am not a douchebag and I don't have the rack. It was a raffle prize and I won. I am sorry, but I have never been in a raffle where you don't get to keep the item you win. It is not like this was a cheap item to win it was the last and best item.

Until you find yourself in that situation I feel it is difficult for you to understand the situation. I spent a ton of money driving myself out there from Chicago and still donated $100 to the event. I didn't spend much time with you while I was there, but I am sure if you did you would know I am not a douche bag. Next year I will make sure I pass on any 1st Gen products I win. I would appreciate it if you would not call me a douchebag.

I talked to most of the people at the event afterwards and apologized to all of them (Bob, Jace, Adam). If I had know how upset everyone was going to be I would have just passed.

Edit - Just saw box rocketspost: Okay maybe the greedy wasn't the right word usage. You are right about them saying "you should pass if it doesn't fit your truck" I understand that now. I am just saying that is what I was thinking at the time. I get it now, but a lot of good that does me know. I just want to make sure everything is settled and I am not to proud to apologize or admit I was wrong. I just want You, Jberry and everyone else to understand where I was coming from.

Sorry again. It was a mistake and no one immune from them.

I wanna say a few things.
first and foremost: Adam, thank you very much for being a part of the raffle. i was so stoked to hear you were donating on of those awesome racks! I really hope you are not discouraged from donating again.

Secondly, next year, the raffle will be different. I have ideas on how to make sure this wont happen again.

water under the bridge. lets just look forward towards next year

    Thanks Adam.

Maybe even just make it known as a rule. At the time I thought it was more of a suggestions about passing on items that don't fit on the truck. All of you guys are good guys and I want you all to feel the same way about me....This is definitely a thread jack sorry Adam.

I will definitely be back and hope to something to the table next year. I work at a cosmetic company so I might be able to put together some baskets for all the ladies in attendance next year.

and adam you would have been happy to see the rack being installed within 10 minutes of the guy getting the rack...he was sooooo pumped!

i saw it installed the next day and it looked awesome!

so how it got there wasn't pretty at all, but it ended up in hands of someone who extremely appreciated the hard work and went on a truck that adam was hoping for.

not going to beat up on the raffle thing..that's not what this thread is for...what's done is done and we'll be changing things around next year to avoid this issue..

thank you adam for donating the bed rack..it was a thing of beauty and it is no wonder why everybody wanted to win it..it is a great rack

So I've tweaked the design slightly. Not doing 3 legs anymore. It makes for a much heavier rack to have the 3rd leg and full length feet. So I've gone back to 2 feet/legs and added another spreader on each side the connects the legs and provides a mounting location for the shovel bracket and for the hilift.

I built this one for the Raffle in Moab with this new design and I think this is a better setup. Thanks to Poorboyota for the pics (he's the one that won this one at the raffle).

Shovel bracket side (bracket is not installed but you can see the change in design.)

Other side is identical with mounts for the hilift.

If you're rattle canning the bedliner will probably be slightly more durable. I had my own rack rattlecanned with Satin for 2 years and it held up surprisingly well. I just recently had it powder coated. PC is the best option.
