Talk about making his retirement work for him. He spends weeks at a time out there fishing that spot. The shit part is that I don't have any gear anymore. My brother and I used to share everything and he took all of it to Idaho :(
Im pretty sure Ive fished this area with my brother MANY years ago. There is a spot just below Horseshoe Dam that is basically a giant spillway/hole. I pulled 3 baby channel catfish out of that area before the sun came up.

One day, ill get back into fishing (when I retire like this guy)

The guy caught that record flathead actually on Bartlett Lake. The spot you're referring to that you had been to before is Catfish Point which is a big pool right under the spillway for Horseshoe Dam. I pulled this 40 pounder out of that spot about 10 years ago using a live 6" tilapia as bait...

Nah, she was way too big to eat. A leather boot would have tasted better. We let her go. The sucky part was that she had just laid eggs so if I would have caught her a few days before then she probably would have weighed about 10lbs more.

Saw a black 2nd gen with 6" lift at grand ave and Dysart, had a nice dent in the passenger door.

I have been to catfish point about 3-4 times in the last year or two and it is nothing like it used to be. It's kinda sad. Anyone still fish the verde for flatheads?
