I know how you feel, locally, they told me my truck was impossible to find so they were trying to sell me a 4 cyl for way too much money at a slap-in-the-face kind of interest rate. I have to go up to sacramento 2x per year for school and checked out a used car dealer in Roseville that specializes in used Toyotas.

no bullshit, they had the truck I was constantly building on Toyotas site sitting there, and by the time I got back from my test drive they had paperwork ready with good numbers I couldn't refuse. used truck from them at half the interest rate that my local dealer was willing to sell me a brand new one. check out justbettercars.com
I was thoroughly impressed with them and every car on their lot looks better than any new car. my truck looked amazing when I bought it

    Just wanted to update.

I posted my Yakima roof rack and cross bars on Craigslist yesterday, and about an hour later I get a call from a buyer. I meet him and his wife, they're about twice my age, and heavy into Scion, which I currently drive. We make the deal and chat for 15-20 min about Scion (I used to have an xB show car with the national club Scikotics) and they own 2, and I mention I'm trying to get into a different vehicle. They light up and ask questions, then say the sister in law is looking for a low miles, good MPG car. I shoot them a price, and they excitedly say they'll pass it on and suggest heavily she consider buying my xB.

Text back and forth last night after the fact, and they decided if she's not interested, they are. I'm not investing heavy into the idea, but they seem to be seriously interested in selling the wife's xA and buying my car from me. I told them price I wanted and pertinent things about my car, and it seems like its completely possible for this to work out.

So, I'll be throwing money towards my current loan to try and free up the title at a price they're willing to pay, which is $10,500.

Might end up being in a position for my Tacoma, yet - and without the negative equity.

Awesome man! Hope it works out for you. That would be a stroke of good luck and the right place at the right time.:)

    Excellent!

You'll always do better on a private party sale than dealer trade.

A double cab Prerunner with an automatic....and a 2.7? Are those common? That seems underpowered to me.

Not common. And underpowered to some, not for me, however.

If I needed power I'd buy a V8. I need seating for 4 and a bed, and more than 20MPG.

    Check. Check. Check.

Don't haul or tow. So the 3 times a year I might need to do either isn't worth the mileage difference. I'm used to driving an xB with 1.5 4 cyl and auto. The Tacoma drives similarly, which is just fine. Still produces torque when it needs it, which is all that matters when it's hauling my groceries, fiancé, dog, and a baby or 2.

When I test drove, I had 600 people pounds inside and was more than sufficient.

Lol... when I first read that I just picked "600 people" out of that sentence and was like... "holy shit!" our trucks are awesome! Time for me some glasses lol.

I read somewhere on TW max capacity was 43 midgets and a banana.

More to point, it would definitely be on the boundary of underpowered if I planned to mod it with lift or heavier tires/wheels. But it's not seeing any mods, especially not suspension mods.

Buying it how I want it, for a reason! I've spent too much on modding, too much on gas, too much on maintenance to modify my vehicles. Now I decided to buy the right truck that is perfect to me already - Tacoma answered the call. Just so happens DCSB PreRunner and 2.7 auto fit perfectly. Might sound crazy, but V6 is overkill for my needs. Won't see more dirt than a fire road. Have a V6 4x4 SUV already, anyway. I have no use for 2 trucks that both get 16MPG and only see 4x4 every other year, when I make sure everything still works properly.

A stock DCSB PreRunner with the 4 banger is a great truck. Fast? Not really. But it's perfect, nonetheless.

Sounds like you have new truck fever! You will find any way to justify a new Tacoma purchase within the next month or two even if it doesn't make good financial sense.
