Looks like a nice truck! If you have trouble with getting the outlet or compass working, bring it by the shop.

Haven't heard from that guy yet Dave, but so far I have completed one interior LED lighting job, and have appointments this week for a bed light kit, two interior kit, a tow truck rear kit, and one guy who wants me to replace all of his horse trailer lighting with LEDs.

The rodeo was a blast, and the women were gorgeous!

Quite a showing of professionals. We had competitors from several states who came to do their thing. Saturday night's bull ride competition was pretty impressive as well. We only had one competitor out of all of them that actually completed a scoring ride, as everyone else was thrown. This rodeo was a sanctioned and scored PCA event.

anybody here have any experience with furniture building? I've got some plans I want to follow but elaborate a little more on and I have a few questions. Don't really want to join another forum for a small weekend project.

What you got? I'm no pro, but I built a custom bed for my daughter a few years back. Complete with under-frame storage drawers and routered edges.

I've built benches and tables before, but they've always been garage related so cosmetics were never cared for. I've seen a lot of people talking about a Kreg tool for drilling counterbore pocket holes for screws. Its like a 50 dollar tool. I'm figuring I can get away with a steady hand and a drill bit but wanted some opinions before I start drilling away and need to touch everything up.

also, ever done any distressing? Got any tips of advice as far as techniques?

Counterbore pocket tools are handy because it can bore the hole and also make the plugs out of scrap wood, so they are actually well worth the $$ for them. Distressing can be done pretty easily really. It just takes practice. I would suggest getting scrap wood and practice on it a few times. I personally prefer the burnt distress look myself, as it seems to add more character. Of course using the blotting/wiping method works good as well, but they are two different distress methods. What type of furniture, and what kind of look/finish are you wanting?

Coffee table and end tables. Got all the wood tools I need from my dad, but he never used pocket tools as most of his stuff was exterior wood work. I figure I might try over torquing some shorter screws and seeing how wood filler fills it in when I get home. Still not sure about a finish. This distressed paint thing is all the rage these days, but I wouldn't mind a dark stain using the vinegar and wire brush method to bring out distressing in the wood. Not to mention its easier to paint over stain than it is stain over paint should I decide I don't like it.

If you pre-drill the screw holes then you can do the over torquing method, depending on the screw size. Too large of a screw head and even filler will show up. If you are going to use stain and want the best hiding of the filler, put some stain into a small batch of the filler. This pre-stains the filler, giving it the best matching method.

good call. I'll look into that.

Jim, did buying a more expensive truck stifle your zook and trailer plans? or are you looking at bigger and better rigs cause you can tow now.
