Doesn't seem to be sitting too low even with just the TSB. Some Dakars would be nice for that though! How often and far do you tow that? I would like to buy a boat within the next year or so and I'm debating on a Sport Cruiser or a performance boat so I can hit different lakes and the performance boat would be around 25' with a double axle aluminum trailer. So close to your setup in weight.

 

Just for my education, why are the rear tires water filled?

 

traction. also maybe to help keep it from flipping on hills.(going from side to side)

all rear tractor tires that i know of are fluid filled.

Towed my GSX-R 600 the other day with my 2007 PreRunner (non-TSB).

I was sort of disappointed!! I looked under the truck to see how it's sitting and the springs were pretty much flat and about 1"--1 1/2" from the bump stops. Really don't understand why Toyota would build a truck that could not handle any pay-load. They had to consider customers towing lawnmowers, ect. I guess my next step would probably be 3" lift

 

Unless you off road in the rocks I would say go with some Firestone Air Bags. I did and I think they are the best towing upgrade you can do. The truck rides smoother without a load and I can adjust the air pressure so as to adjust the ride with varying amounts of weight/load.

 

All rear tractor tires that I know of CAN be water filled. Most don't come that way. Another reason to water fill is as a counter weight for a front end loader.

 

Completely agree. I have the bags and would buy them again for sure, even if I wasn't towing they are almost worth it just for payload. I occasionally carry a decent size generator and a few large (6 gal) gas cans, and without the bags it would squat. I personally would NOT rely on them as a replacement for Weight Distribution Hitch to TOW heavier trailers though. They work great as an adjustable supplement to WDH for big trailers and/or stand alone for payloads in the bed or small trailers.

Here is my 16 ft 82 Scamp in tow behind my 11 DCSB Sport and 12 Honda CBR250R in the bed. Towed it down from Kansas City, MO to Little Rock, AR about 6 weeks ago. I'm on a 7 month TDY and have been living in it full time at the base RV park. Been doing me good! The Scamp only weighs about 1700 lbs and towed like a dream, even with the bike in the bed and luggage and gear.

I know right? Saving alot of money and my wife and son are only 7 hours away so I get a taste of sanity every couple weeks. Putting away alot of money staying in the camper and pocketing the BAH and per diem at least!

New rig. Skyline Koala 17rbt. Not very big, but has enough room to sleep 6 and is built well. Definitely get what you pay for. Looked at cheaper models, but they were flimsy and poorly made. Heavy duty frame, aluminum framing for cabinets and beds, and composite skin make for a light but durable camper.
