I have a 2009 Regular Cab 2WD w/man trans Tacoma that has been a little noisy of late in rear of truck. When I took it in to dealer they also noted the noise but did not know of any TSB's out on a 2WD to fix the problem. They are going to call Toyota to see what can be done. This is not a Pre-Runner.....
Truck has 10K on it. Today when washing it i notice something weird from the rear, The truck has a cant to it towards driver side.....I measured it at rear wheel well and the truck is 3/8" lower on driver side!

Has anyone else experienced this noise/cant to their trucks?

Heaviest load i've hauled is 300lbs yesterday after returning from dealer. 15 bags of western bark chips for landscaping.

What kind of noise? Driver's side has the fuel tank so it should be a little lower.

the lean is the famous "taco lean" lol. Drivers side is lower because of gas tank.

Mine makes squeaky noises as well. Its been like that for the past 6 months or so. Its an 08 with 17,000 miles

Sounds like a low level clatter, Truck did not lean when new and leans with empty or full tank.

The truck was brand new when you bought it brand new...Springs will settle over time. Battery, Driver (the seat that is ALWAYS full), and the gas tank are all on the drivers side- The lean is well known.

As far as the noise- Live in a dusty area?? Or offroad in mud?? Try pressure washing the springs and maybe some dry lube of some sort and see what that does. If it keeps squeaking-Take it to the dealer and let them work on it...It should be under warranty still.

Hmm would love to hear this sound, do you have any way of recording it??? Mine has 3 rattles I was able to identify 2 of them.

    1. Fuel door rattle
    2. Interior panel behind the seat (driver's side)
    3. I don't know but it sounds like the fender well plastic

That's on the front & IIRC, was on prerunners/4x4s. My prerunner had it until putting in the toytec spacer on the drvr side when doing the swap to 5100s.

I don't really know how to record it due to the location the noise is coming from.

It's as if there's chain loosely wrapped around rear differential and when you hit bumps its starts clanging....It is worse when running the prescribed 33psi tire pressure at rear, When running 30psi the noise is 50% less. I took it to dealer and they could not determine cause, just said somewhere around leaf spring.

    Thanks

No dust or mud ever. Truck is 10 months old so yes it's under warranty. As posted originally, I took it to dealer and they don't have a clue.....

Is it a rattle or a squeak?? When you said spring noise- I thought squeaky...but it seems more like it was a rattle or something??

The dealership techs are the professionals...If there is a problem and it's under warranty YOU need to make THEM figure it out.

It's a rattle type noise over bumps. The dealer said leaf spring noise and their suppose to check with Toyota and get back with me. To me it's more centrally located towards rear of truck. One thing of note, the truck's rear end was replaced within first 300 miles of ownership.

I also have a squeaky squaky sound when going over bumps from the rear. I also have a rattle from the front fender well when going over bumps. I do live on a dirt road but I don't abuse it. I take it easy on the truck but I have had problems. Toyota noted the noise but no fix. They replaced a front strut after 10,000 miles but it didn't fix the problem.

I also have a reg cab but mine is an automatic
