Looking for some advice on subs for my 2013 DC. I have a jl hd 1200 amp I can use that was in another vehicle of mine. I also have one jl 13tw5 that I had in my older Tacoma. I was thinking the easiest thing to do would be buy another 13tw5 and put the 1200 on them and just dial the amp back a little. Any thoughts or opinions??????

I am currently in the process of putting a second 13 TW5 in one of my Tacomas. I placed an order with Mr Marv for the second enclosure and he also recommended the amp you currently have (HD 1200) with the two subs. Trying to find a good used 13 TW 5- 3 ohms because that is what I have now.

That's is what I am looking for but you can probably find one new. I don't want to spend another $1200 for the 2 or 4 ohm ones that just came out. Unless you want to sell me your sub and amp. Lol

I'd like to see that pics of the install when one of you two install these. I have a single 13TW as well.

I am running Hertz Mille Components up front and the sub on an Audison LRX 5.1. Has 650 watts dedicated to the sub.

nice setup! i have the same amp powering Hybrid Audio components in the front and a single IDQ10. it's an amazing amp with very clean power. i got it used from the DIY Mobile Audio forums. i'm contemplating getting another IDQ10 since that amp can put out over 1100 watts at 2 ohms. and it's small enough to definitely fit in the storage bin under the rear seat :D

I love DIYMA. I live over there, mostly a lurker. :spy:

I have wanted to demo the Hybrids.

How is the IDQ? I know Mr. Marv pushes those as well as Taco Tunes.

As far as jamming that amp under the seat, it will not go without removing the plastic bins under there. That was something I didn't want to do. Perhaps in the future. I have a Focal 33KX I want to stuff in there some how. That thing is a beast.

Ha! I'm a lurker as well, but looove the tons of knowledge on those forums. I have the L6V2 and L1 Pro R2. The mid bass sounds pretty darn good. I'm not a complete fan of the tweeter yet. I really need to work on the gains and EQ as any recordings that have sibilance can get pretty harsh. The mid bass is still breaking in and sounds better with each day. Using the the three voice track from Autosound 2000 CD 103, I can get the center image to appear just left of between my dash and rear view mirror. I try to adjust the EQ to move the image up, but it just gets more harsh. I guess this is a product of using stock locations. I heard a dashmat helps, but they're a little fugly.

I got the IDQ10 from Marv's recommendation. There aren't many subs that can fit the DC, and I was not completely sold on the 13TW. The IDQ10 is still breaking in as well, but is definitely getting better. I've seen a lot of great reviews on the IDQs and knew it was going to be a great SQ sub. After installing it I was surprised at the low notes that it can hit. I wish it had more impact, though. My previous car had a 12W6V2 firing through the ski pass, which provided a ton of hard hitting bass. I knew the IDQ10 would never match that, but I still wish it had more. I'm still messing with the time alignment on my DEH-80PRS to get the mid bass and sub better integrated. The low bass frequencies sound like they're coming from the engine compartment, but the higher sub-bass still sounds like they're coming from the rear. Lowering the sub crossover to 63Hz helps, but I didn't like the sound of the HATs playing that low. They're crossed at 80Hz and sound great and clean at loud volumes. I guess this is where I need to purchase a better HU or external processor that has finer adjustment capability. I don't think my wife will like that :p. I tried underlapping the crossover points, but it further lost the impact I want.

You're right about cutting up the bin to fit the amp. I would put the amp on the passenger's side since my son's car seat is currently on that side. I would need to relocate the jack to the driver's side and hopefully still have space for my ratcheting straps and other truck tools. A second IDQ10 is probably long down the road due to the mods required to relocate the amp.

I have some pics of the install and will do my best to start a thread tonight. I still need to make a notch in the rear side panels to fit around the amp cables, but for the most part the install is done.

I agree, DIYMA is a great resource for us garage installers.

I would like to see some pics! Where are you located? I don't know any fellow Taco owners that have respectable systems around me. Well, I haven't found any. That would be a better statement.

As far as the Autosound CD, would you recommend using sonething like that instead of just tuning by ear? Sounds like you are goning about it the correct way. I just fly by ear and tune as I drive or periodically change amp settings.

I run an Eclipse 7100 and dont have the input cable to do the automatic time alignment like the 80PRS. I will be giving it a shot in the womans ride. I just put a system in her ride last week.
