Well I can say that I camp now.... I get to bring all the shit I want with me. When I was in the army we spent half our lives in the woods. Bivey sack, ruck, extra set of clothes, food, 3 pair socks, water, sleeping bag (if hot), rain gear, first aid kit, Knife, M4..... lots of ammo! Good times, good times...

I solo most times so rely on myself to pack every thing I need and have everything from years of doing it.

Don't assume the other guy will bring it, combine your lists and start with the 10 essentials

    http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/ten+essentials.html

Don't forget to tell someone responsible your start date, route, and expected date of return.
Tell them you will call when you get back and if you don't then alert the authorities.

Bear country you will have to at least hang your food and some areas require the use of a bear vault, check the regs for the area you are going into

Good luck, that looks like a tough trip. Try doing your runs up hill with a loaded pack on your back. :p :D

Take plenty of water, food, fuel, socks, sunscreen, and bug spray. A map and compass, knife, and bear/pepper spray. Don't forget to let someone know where you are going and when to expect you back. Just in case something  happens.

Thanks - we have to sign up and have a rough time/date to check in at the end otherwise they send a search party. We also have to have checkpoints and sign in at certain points in the trail.. so its pretty well watched over. We dont sign in, they come find us. BUT its still camping in the middle of nowhere..

I used to take a rectangular tupperware (rubbermaid?) container with a lid to eat from. It's can also be pretty convenient just to eat out of the pot you use for cooking....at least for one person. Lexan or titanium utensils are really good, light weight, and easy to clean.
