Off Road vs. Sport for snow?

My truck is most likely totaled so I need a new Taco. There are absolutely zero places to off road back home so I'm not worried about off road worthy-ness. How much better would the OR be in snow? I'm thinking snow that is 18" deep at most. I like all the color matching on the Sport so that's why I'm undecided.

 

On road , no difference unless maybe you're already in the cabbage then the locker may help get you back onto the road

 

Can't get a long bed in an O/R so that should answer your question

Where is there snow near Phoenix?

 

not in the DC. but the AC comes in TRD O/R and with the 6’ bed.

 

Well are you getting a DC or ac I mean be more specific it all depends on what you need and what you want also 5 foot bed or 6 foot bed

The right tires and carrying a decent set of chains would be the bigger difference in heavy snow, imo. But the same plus front n rear lockers would be nicer.

I've only drove my TRD off road 2 winters through anywhere between 1 inch to 3 feet of snow and honestly haven't noticed the locker making much of a difference in the snow. I believe the only color difference would be color matched rear bumper on the sport vs. chrome on the OR.

OP said 18" of snow not me. So i'd say he goes in the mountains on logging roads perhaps. I used to drive the snow a lot with a ltd. slip and 4wd, rear chains (no cables) at times. Luckily it was lighter continental snow, not this slick slop here near the coast.

 

Doesnt the sport come with the limited slip? If it does then i say get the trd. U get the best of both worlds. Locker for stuck situations and safeness of an open rear on the slippery snowy road.

No, he's indecisive on his choice, one concern being the color matching (OR VS. Sport)

I'd be getting a double cab short bed. 4x4 for sure, I'm done dicking around with 2wd in snow. Snow chains are illegal in WI so that's not an option. No snow in Phoenix, but I'm moving back to Wisconsin in November.
