Could have been a turning radius thing. With a shorter wheel base he might have been able to make the turn without getting personal with that tree.

I get dinged up just going out to hunting spots. But dings add character. If paint gets broken over metal, I just fill it in to prevent rusting.

Some guys care more about their looks than others. If dinging the truck is undesirable, then don't go wheeling! :p

the most severe trail damage i got in moab was backing into a canadian which dented my tailgate and throwing a water bottle at my windshield cracking it...so i guess if you aren't dumb then you will be damage free!

jk, I also smashed my gas tank skid, candy cane'd my drive shaft, smashed my front skid and bent my plate bumper...but thats all minor damage lol

ahhhhh gotcha that sucks. I screwed up my bedside coming out of my driveway. The kids on my street useto play in the street, I was leaving to go somewhere. Thought I saw one darting towards me, checked the wheel and WAM. Took out my driverside step, rear part of the A frame, and bedside. $3500 in damage

If you have 2k lying around you could always drop it on this stuff if you're worried about pin striping and dents http://www.offroadmagnetics.com/site/9368e254e7544a3db20cde1c37e222b8/home?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.offroadmagnetics.com[/URL]

Yea - doing stuff that I feel like could cause that kind of damage to my truck is very stressful and takes the fun out of it for me. I like the moderate wheeling where I know a stock truck could make it through without too much trouble.

OP, this is an awesome thread! It's a matter of when.

I bought my truck wanting to do some trail runs but now I can't imagine damaging her  I did a while ago and I cried on the inside, I felt sick to my stomach. I'm building my truck for logging roads, easy trials and camping. I'll buy an old rig for off road.

Can you even put damage from wheeling through on insurance?
