My local Sunoco gas station offer ultra 93 for 2 cents more than premium 91. I normally use 91 octane and last night I decided to go 93. This is my 4th refill since just bought the tacoma new last month. What do you guys think I should use? Thanks

+1, why pay for premium when engine does not require. I run premium in my outboard but only because I have milled heads and 135+ lbs compression. High compression requires high octane otherwise stick with regular.

I run 89, but to answer your question; I would use the 91 because eventually you're going to need to fill up at other gas stations where the 93 might not be available. I think whatever you run it's better to stick with that same octane every fill up, so that the engine is not always re-calibrating itself.

Why do people insist on giving the oil companies more money? WHY pay more for something you do not need?

Run a little of it all and see what gets you the best performance and MPG.

Ethanol blended fuel loses its octane rating faster than non Ethanol blended fuel so from the time that 89 octane fuel is made to the time you actually get it in your tank, it very well could be lower then 89.

Like I said, I would run a tank or so of all of it and see what works best for you. Or, you could mix it back and forth. Fill up with 89 and at half tank top of with the 91 or 93 then run that down to half tank or so and fill back up with 89 and so on and so on....

My Taco has a SC so I always run at least 91 but in my wife's car I alternate back and forth. Except for when we have really hot weather, then I use straight 91 in her car.
