Man great info in this thread. Im starting to gather parts for my mods. This really helps a lot. Now all I need to find is a thread that tells me why when I did the Cruse Control mod to my truck it does not work.

 

Did you check to make sure the brick was still on the gas pedal? Sometimes mine slides off.

 

I've been reading for days and I am pretty sure it'll work but I wanted to ask just to be sure when money is involved. I've got a 2008 AC sport. I've got a new set of 5100's in my garage but I'd like to make the truck as functional as possible as far as suspension travel goes, or at least keep all of my stock travel. So, will I gain anything with a set of OME 884's with the 5100's? I've read several times its fine to run this set up with the shocks set at 0. One of my worries is needing UCA's and I don't want that if I can stay stock on those. I'd like to run 265/70/17 or 265/75/17 if I can do it. I know I can run those sizes stock I'm just worried about getting my alignment in spec.

Also I pull a camper on occasion so ill need to keep a little rake in the rear. My truck has the stock 3 leaf pack on it. 1.5 AAL?

Will I need a front diff drop for the cv angles with this set up I'm talking about? Longer brake lines? All my lift/bigger tire knowledge is late 70's ford trucks so this is a whole new world. Any help or advice with be appreciated.

You don't need rake brother, you need rear springs that don't suck. Install Dakars and longer billies in the rear, and 884s in the front with the 5100s you have.

The Dakars are designed for overlanding, they can take the weight and are exceptional springs.

 

I should have posted before I got the new 5100's. They showed up Friday and the rears are the "0-1.5" shocks. I may run a AAL set up for a bit since I cant throw another $400+ at new leaf packs right now. Or I may wait till I get all the parts to do it right and then do the install.

Any input on this set up and UCA's? I want to avoid new UCA's at all costs since from what I've seen they are mighty proud of those things.

There's nothing wrong with running your 5100's set to 0 with the OME springs up front, and a lot of guys are running that setup with great success.

As long as you keep the lift 3" or less you won't need UCAs. Running around 2" of lift will let you install a true 32" tire with minimal to no rubbing.

You can always sell the rear addaleafs and shocks as new in box here on TW, recoup the money, and work on getting your dakars and longer billies for the rear. When you've got everything you can take a day for the install and presto-blamo!

Or you can run the addaleafs and billies you have for now and save up for the upgrade later. Then sell the old stuff on TW.

i have a 2011 access base model v6. i just had toyota install the tsb on the leaf springs because of the harsh ride with weight in the bed...
now ive just purchased a 3" pro comp coil over with blocks but supposedly pro comp has the blocks for this lift on back order for close to or over about 500 orders and are not going to be ready until early july....

Blocks are garbage to be avoided. The kit you linked gains lift in the rear with AAL, and gains lift in the front with upgraded springs. Should be good for on road and light off roading.

 

im not looking to be going off roading with the lift... i just want a little more height to the truck and i use it for work... the aal was just the picture the "company" on ebay contacted me and said it would be best for my truck to have the blocks and the leafs were for sagging leafs

 

Axle wrap my man. Blocks amplify axle wrap among a myriad of other crappy side effects. On road or off, blocks are garbage. If you're going to haul a lot you want Dakars. They are designed to handle a sustained load.

 

Not sure I'd buy from a place that recommends blocks over adding a leaf.

 

if you dont want to spend money get 5lug springs guys. they can be had on here for less than $100. get your shits straight

 

He wants to lift the truck and be able to haul/tow, what good are shitty springs for a 5-lug gonna do to help him?

PS- Sometimes my shits lay in the toilet a little curly and snake-like.

 

its better than a AAL. They have better payload then stock 6lug springs. They offer 1.75" of lift. If you dont have money for a full pack its the best option.

 

At best it's a short-term solution. Best to just save up for the full pack and do the job right the first time.

 

absolutely. better then a AAL is all i said. people use AALs here long-term all the time.

 

Yeah, I'm just not too into the AAL because the OEM springs are so crappy. To me it's like building a really nice house on shitty foundation.

 

so what do you suggest i do with what ive ordered im receiving the coilover shocks but no block until july but im not waiting to install it... as i said im not looking to go offroading like a maniac with it but yes hauling and having tools in my bed are a factor i need it to still be able to hold weight nd not bottom out... the guy who is doing my truck with me said i should just get the blocks from a different company nd itll be the same but if blocks arent the way to go what do i need...
