Painting a bunch of shit today Main color- Black Secondary Color- Super White- Accent and trim is gonna be Barcelona red.

Thanks man but im already running into difficulities. Im not an expert body guy and unfortunely i didnt realize all the scratches and gouges until AFTER i laid the first coat of color on to my radio bezel and AC control panel... FUCK now i have to either live with it, Take it to my grandpa who has been spraying for 60 years or resand and paint it myself. Fucking dremel is not a smart way to sand unless you plan on really sanding with 200-400-600 and even wet 800

Dremel is a terrible way to sand anything you're about to paint. Do it right - do it by hand.

 

I know i got lazy and im totally going to pay for it, LITERALLY i think im gonna give my gramps like 50 bucks and see if he will do it right so i dont have scratches from dremel grab.

 

Just use it as practice. Work to a finer grit, give it a quick wetsand, prime, paint, wet sand, clear, wet sand.

 

Unfortunately you're going to have to re-do it all. Look at the positive side now you know not to use the Dremel for sanding something you want a nice finish on! Don't worry it's salvageable! Go grab some sand paper sheets in 200,600 and 800. Start over using the 200 and work your way up to the 800. No need to wet it but you can if you want for safe measure with the 800. Then you'll be good to go! It's all trial and error man trust me I've screwed up some pieces too! I just got into automotive spraying almost a year ago using crap tools and materials now I shoot a $700 gun and $50/pint auto paint and $100/qt clear! It's addicting though after you get your first real good lay down that your proud of and show off to people you will move onto bigger and harder projects. I just did my roommates 4 door jeep hardtop. We tried to color match it and the side he used the orbital sander on looks like poop! Guess how my hand sanded side looks? Hehe don't take the shortcuts!! Good luck to you bud!

Don't pay your grandpa to do it! Trust me do it yourself and you will be so damn proud to show it off when you're done!

 

Ps there is nothing wrong with using a quality spray paint on interior parts as long as you properly prep the pieces. They won't get the abuse like an exterior piece gets with weather and debris. I painted my dash kit with a black spray paint and it looks good.

 

My prep was just half ass, I cant sand for very long or my shoulder starts to give out unfortunely haha

 

Do small sections at a time and take breaks! It's all about the prep work
