Carry with a chambered round???

Good call on taking a class before buying. I've seen people buying handguns and didn't even know which type of bullets they needed!

You cant own a certain magazine for a weapon, But buying a handgun without previous experience and or training... Why not?! what could go wrong?!???

 

lol i have a cm40, and totally agree. slide is so stiff. its broken in a bit now that i have about 500 rounds through it, but still very stiff. when i first bought it, it was almost painful racking the slide ha.

no safety on the gun, but the trigger pull is long and a bit heavy. i carry with one chambered at all times. pocket holster.

 

I carry a S&W Bodyguard 380 in my front pocket, always chambered.

 

my cw40 and cm9 feel similar and i see no reason to not have a round chambered. I really like my Kahrs. Remember you can use +p in the kahrs. idk about others.

 

Always. If you need a CCW pistol... chances are, you're not going to have the time to take it out and rack the slide to chamber a round first. Nor, with all the adrenaline pumping, are you likely to remember to do so unless you practice doing it that way like crazy.

 

I hate when I go to a sporting goods store that sells handguns or any gun at that and people that obviously have 0 experience with any type of fire arm flash everyone in the store and have thier finger wrapped around the trigger. They would do the same thing with it loaded and not know the difference.

Monday, two people met at the homedepot literally right behind my house to conduct a craigslist transaction.

The buyer pulled a weapon for whatever reason. The seller pulled his weapon, shot, and killed the threat. In such a circumstance, i would be very happy to have one chambered. Yes many may argue that chambering a round takes mile seconds, but after staring down the barrel of a weapon during armed robberies, I simply do NOT want to take that time to chamber a round.

I am usually carrying 99% of the time. but most dont know it. (minus work and marked places)

 

I concealed-carry a .40 Sig P239. I always carry 7 Federal HSTs in the mag and another one in the pipe. In my opinion, the Sig decocking/safety system is as safe of a "one in the pipe" system you can get without a true mechanical safety. It will NOT discharge unless you pull the trigger all the way. And who wants to fiddle with a mechanical safety when one second can determine whether you/your family or the bad guy has a really bad day? Oh yeah, and then there's that whole rock-solid reliability inherent to Sigs as well.

 

A thumb safety is disengaged on the draw stroke. It incurs no time penalty.

My first Sig 1911 had a frame hardness problem, and a broken extractor. The thumb safety was displacing metal on the opposite side of the frame. I sent them pictures, with the areas circled, and a detailed description. They sent it back with a new extractor, and nothing else They eventually replaced my gun, but I was not impressed. I loved the old and new one, but I never want to deal with their CS again.

A chambered round would not have helped that woman - the invader kicked in the door and was on her in seconds. Unless she was carrying a weapon ON her person, and it was IMMEDIATELY accessible, she would not have been able stop him.

It was a "tongue in cheek" comment ... but had no icon for it ... .

IIRC, once she heard the door crash ... if she would have had quick access to a weapon ... she had time to "rack a round" or "pull a slide".

The secret is what my buddy does and some on here do ... hide weapons all over the house for quick access ...

Really your a cop and u have to check?!?!?! Good for that cop to shoot that guy!!!

 

When I put my duty gear on every morning, I check my weapon and draw at least 5-10 times.

When I put my concealed carry gear on, I check that weapon too and draw it a few times.

I have to know that my gear is ready to go before I walk out that door and go to work.

 

Why take the chance of ANYTHING going wrong, on literally, a one-shot opportunity to end the situation? I'm sure he also checked to make sure the safety was off, the pistol was free of any obstructions/retention devices, and his clothing didn't block access.

These are all common-sense precautions, and if he had the chance, I give him full credit for not taking anything for granted.

 

^^ and you would probably pissed if he did not check and it did not have one chambered and he went to shoot and all that happened was “click” if that even. then the guy could have slit the girls throat.
