Traction control and side impact airbags?

I own a 2007 Tacoma SR5 TRD with an Access Cab. It does not have traction control (Electronic Stability Control) and side impact airbags. I was under the impression that it does (even the NHTSA says it does: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/ncap/). Is there a certain model that has those safety features?

 

NHTSA information does state that 2007 Tacoma's offer Stability Control as an option:

VSC or 'vehicle skid control' is an option that Toyota offers(manufacture code: VD or VF). This is not standard equipment in 07' Tacoma's. All vehicles equipped after 2012 (2009 all vehicles under 10,000 lbs manufactures are required to offer stability control as an available option) will be required to have stability control as standard equipment.

The Access cabs do not have side impact airbags. There are also only available as an option with the Double Cab models(manufacturer code: GY).

Does anyone know if stability control can be added by the dealer or otherwise?

 

I really doubt it can be added on as a dealer added option, it probably comes put on at the factory.
Rumour has it, the '09s will have standard curtain/side airbags and stability control.

 

Does anyone here actually have side airbags and VSC on an '07 or '08 Double Cab?

Is it a waste of time trying to find these on an '07 or '08?

If I want these options, should I just stick to looking at '09s and '10s?

 

I have side curtain airbags but not VSC on my 2008 they were just part of the package.
