I have read all I can on wheels, but when it comes down to it I am still fuzzy on the bs vs offset relationship. Do I need the first or the second option? I want to match, or come as close to the stock specs as possible

They are both 16x7 and it comes down to

4" BS, 0mm offset vs.
4.5" BS, 13mm offset

 

That is what I thought. In my research I saw that stock was 4.5" bs with 12mm offset, then I read the 12mm offset cancels out the bs and wound up

So I sucked up my pride and decided to ask!

i got the trd wheels...they are 16x8 with 4.5 bs and 1mm offset....i have no idea of the offset and bs of the stock steel wheels.....but the wheels i got fit perfectly with 265/70/16 tires...keeps the same diameter as stock so your speedo is right...just gives you a wider tread and looks way better...zero rubbing...no lift needed

 

backspace is the distance between the back lip of the wheel and the mounting surface.
Offset is the distance of the mounting surface from the centerline of the wheel. neg offset will push the wheel out, positive will tuck the wheel into the fenderwell closer.

 

a while back I asked Chris what the specs were of the factory wheels and he said it was 5.5" BS, and they're 7" wide iirc.
The closest to stock of the ones you had listed is the 16x7 and +13 offset, 4.5" BS

alright dgerm, you need to spill the beans on the project. It has been 1 hour and 16 minutes since you stated you have a secret project and my patience has been tested.

 

this goes well with ur wheel spacer thread. u ask ur professor and made it seem like wheel spacers are bad, but now your getting -4.5" backspacing, which is not that much of a difference than the wheel spacers, the spidertrax will equal to a -4.25" backspacing

 

Yes, but the engineers of the truck used factory wheels with backspacing. The point of my post is to find the wheel specs closest to stock---closest to how our trucks were designed to perform

 

i know im not hating, but im just saying its kinda funny that u were proving the "dangers of wheel spacers" and now ur pretty much doing the same thing, thats all

 

I am not doing anything like wheel spacers. The entire point of me asking my question is to get wheels that are closest to the factory specs...Not try and increase the load on my hub in order to get a better look. I want the exact opposite of wheel spacers

 

yea u getting wheels with -4.5 backspacing is pretty much the same thing as getting wheel spacers that equal to -4.25 backspace.... factory is 5.5

 

yea i see what your saying, the spidertrax is more like an adapter than a spacer so not worried bout extra stress since its got its own lugs and torqued to spec

EDIT: The Spidertrax ones get torqued in place and the wheels are attached using built-in wheel studs, which is the right way to do it. It eliminates potential slop and keeps bad things from happening.

 

all im simply stating is that with the OP new wheels with -4.5 backspacing is still gonna cause pre mature wear to the wheel bearings (as he was stating in his other thread) the same as the spidertrax spacers with -4.25 backspacing will

 

Thank you tacoskim! I was under the impression that factory were 4.5 BS, thats where we I was misunderstanding and we were not seeing eye to eye on it

Haha, You will have to wait about 10-20 K miles until my tires are worn out, or if I sell my FJ wheels. Whichever comes first
