    So summer is here now, and I was wondering how everybody stays cool while driving. Windows down or AC on?

    I do about half-n-half. I know some people that will use their AC constantly!!! I like the wind in my truck most of the times but on the highway, I will kick on the AC for sure.;)

    If temps are below 85 and I'm driving in town I'll keep the windows down and enjoy the breeze. Temps above 90 or highway driving and on comes the a/c. Best invention man has created!

    It hit about 92 with about 120% humidity down here... A/C all the way! (Unless I'm up north where you don't breathe as much water as we do down here!!)

    It is off until my wife hops in the car and then it gets cranked. Then she complains about the mildew smell and I tell her it is because my AC hasn't been on for weeks.

    funny you mention the mildew smell. I just got my oil and filter changed today at the dealership, and he was tellin me all this other crap they want to do to it and one was "ac refresher". he says that about every 50k miles it should be done because it starts to smell like mildew.

    most of the time i leave my window on the driver side down while im drivin. but if its raining or something, ill turn on the AC. its nice to have but it does waste gas

    yeah, I like to sweat out all those toxins. :eek:

    Mine has always done it. I wouldn't pay them to do it. If you're not having issues with it, then just ignore it.

    If you start to have issues, you should try this out. About 3 minutes before getting to my parking spot, I crank the fan and turn off the A/C.

    The mildew smell is caused by moisture build up in the AC ducting. If you turn off your AC several minutes before your destination with the fan on high, it will help dry out the moisture. There are products like Frigi fresh to help kill the mildew if it's already there. Now back to the poll. I usually only use the AC on the freeway unless it's very hot. Fresh air is always better. JMO.

    Its 150 degrees here right now and I have no air in my 96 tacoma. When i get out of the truck I have a sensation of what it feels like wearing depends diapers.

    I need to get some freon added like yesterday.

    Windows up or down its hot as hell right now. My 09 is still in the shop getting fixed after the accident.
