    Hey guys,

I have a question about loading a sportbike on a Gen I Tacoma Double Cab. I know my sportbike's back wheel will sit on the tailgate after i load the motorcycle on, but my question is if it would be a problem? I currently have a Access Cab Gen I tacoma but found a deal on a double cab.

My sportbike weighs 450lbs and i read the load compacity on the tailgate and it says 350 if i remember correctly. I would think the tailgate should hold half the weight of the bike with no problems right; especially since it's the lighter half of the bike? Or am I just completely wrong? lol

    Thanks!

Hey Rab89! Thanks for your reply, but did your shadow fit entirely on the bed of your truck or did rear rest on the tailgate? I'm not worried about the bed but it's just the tailgate that is causing some doubts for me.

Shouldn't be an issue at all. I bought my 2000 Xtra cab to haul my Ducati around. I bought 2 ramps so I can walk up one and the bike up the other. Back in my MX days I had a few older Hilux Toyota's for my dirt bikes. Always had tailgate down with 1 to 3 bikes in it.

BTW, with the front of the bike having it in with Tie-Downs, the rear has much less than half the bike's weight on the gate. You'll be fine....;)

Back tire was on the tail gate. it'll be fine. apparently the newer taco's are having issues with the tail gate, but us guys with the older (better) taco's are fine.
