Possible move to Tahoe

Hey guys so I might be moving to south lake Tahoe for a year just for fun and I'm about to pull the trigger on a dcsb auto 2.7. How do u guys think it will fare there. I'm planning on purchasing this weekend. Should I go with the v6 because I know there is going to be the elevation challenges or would the 4cyl working harder still be just as good?

 

I'd go with a v6 and 4x4 for sure. It is a pretty hilly area and having the extra power of the v6 would help a lot.

I had a 4cyl-the 6 is much better. ESPECIALLY in a hilly area.

Yes it is lol. Now you got me thinking about getting a wrx. Would a 4 cyl 4x4 reg or access cab be that bad? I really don't want to get such a gas guzzler because I probably won't be there for more than a year. Just want to do 1 year of school and hang out with some friends I have who moved there

 

Listen to Jason, the v6 isn't all that bad on fuel as long as your'e not heavy on the gas. And 4x4 is a must.

I think I am going to go with the wrx now. I just called a buddy I have out there and he recommended it.

 

I ran summer tires on my wrx all year long
I also had my pre taco for the bad days though.

Theyre great cars, unless you want to do some offroading, then not so much.

 

i have a 4 banger RC 4x4...working great so far, I live down in Reno area tho
my wife has a Forrester too tho...so we got both

 

Why? Big difference between the two. wrx is a sweet car but still a car. Just curious. 4x4 no question. Tahoe is sick! Lucky!

 

Way do you guys think about a 2012 v6 trd with locker. I'm only going to be in Tahoe for a little less than a year so do u think I can make it thru a winter with chains and 2wd. I'm not going to need 4wd after so I'm still on the rocks about the tacoma. I kinda want the wrx because I know I will have hella fun with it, but I also enjoy the clearance and versatility of the tacomA

 

Since you're in a tacoma forum, most likely everyone would recommend a tacoma. I suggest you test drive both and see what you like best.

 

I love my 4 banger! It's not a race car but I get where i need to go in a timely fashion. Also the first 9 years I lived here I drove a 2wd ford ranger. A good set of studded tires and some momentum will get you around town. Having 4wd makes the drive to work in the morning a lot less eventful. The power of the V6 would be nice, but I do enjoy getting +/- 23 mpg on a regular basis.
