Synthetic or real oil

Don't have the manual for my taco and I have to change the oil again. Is it better to use real or synthetic oil?

Are you saying synthetic isnt' real oil?

I run synthetic. Always have in all my vehicles. It's just something I personally like to do and don't mind spending the extra $$. It's a personal preference....

 

I switche over to synthetic a while ago, and I just like the fact of something being created by scientist, and improves engine life and performance... But thats just me

 

Get cold there in Southside Chicago? Go for it. Take a quart of each and put them in the freezer a day. Notice the difference in how they pour when extremely cold.

 

go synthetic.......unless you have a ton of miles, which CAN lead to cleaning the engine too much and causing leaks......., if you have relatively low miles(under 100k)......definitely go for it!!! good improvements as far as im concerned.

 

I use Mobil 1 religiously: 240,000+ miles on a 91 accord I owned for 10+ years with zero engine work. I continue to use Mobil 1 with my 03 tacoma. However, I think that so long as I change the oil every 3k-5k miles, any oil, pure or synthetic, will do...just keep it clean.

 

so you're saying that if my tacoma has more than 100k it does more bad than good. I was about to some fake oil in my taco is there any proof in that theory.

 

My religion as well, 250,000 clicks, no leaks, no mess, clean oil

 

I run synthetic in mine, its runs way better than regular oil, i think its synthetic that Tacoma's need

 

not necessarily more bad than good......it may not cause any leaks with that many miles, and you may see improvements.....but it can clean too much and clean off the seals, maybe kind of rare or whatever....but it can happen. if you use synthetic....just watch for leaks........and if you do notice a leak, you can switch to mobil 1 high mileage.....good oil and may take care of the leak if it happens.

 

I run Mobil 1 synthetic 15,000 mile in my rig. I wouldn't use it in a rig that eats oil. The molecules are small and will slide past the rings if there is too much play. My 98 taco has 198,000 and has no leaks. Mobil 1 is the way to go.

 

Synth or dino is fine as long as you keep your truck maintained at the specified intervals.

 

Definitely synthetic.

 

I went from regular oil to Valvoline high mileage blend, then I am going full synthetic. It's kinda like weening it to the good stuff. 140K, no leaks, doesn't burn a drop between.

synthetic makes so much more sense
