^That was a crazy microburst/wind storm thing yesterday. All my trees made it though, lucky I guess

    Call these guys:

    Ambush Tree Co. 303.986.4695

They did an awesome job pruning out all of our tree shortly after we moved in. You may find someone a bit cheaper but with them you know it will be done safely

Any damage to the house? We lost power for about an hour last night from this storm. Walked up the street to find a big limb across the road and it snapped the line. Excel was there quick too.
I know that thing was bad. I was waiting for more trees to snap.

I'll give them a call. Was hoping to be able to get a couple estimates today, but the two companies I've talked to both said they'd come out sometime this next week and leave the quote taped to the door if no one is home.

No significant damage to the house. There's a couple shingles that got punctured, but that's about it from what I can tell. We were going to wait and do the roof and take out the tree once the wife finished school. However, we may just bite the bullet now and do both since this happened. Can't say I'm too suprised as it was a known to be a "when" issue and not "if".

Are you filing a claim with insurance? That should get you a nice new roof and maybe gutters.

Crime scene? It's a natural disaster, not a murder scene.

Haha, thanks! I just got done and came inside. My buddy came over and we got it off using a series of ropes and heavy duty ratchet straps. The hardest part was getting the main trunk/limb of the tree off the house without taking out the gutters in the process as it was resting on the crest of the roof and still attached at the tree. The damn thing was 40 feet long and 6" diameter on the skinny end and 12" diameter on the big end.

Roof is too old. Insurance probably wouldn't give us much for it. After getting the tree off the roof, there's only a couple minor spots that I'm pretty sure I can spot repair with a little tar.

Tree is about 60-70 feet tall, 40 feet across, and the main trunk is over 3 feet in diameter. If we take it out completely, I'll just pay a company to come in a do it since they have insurance in case something goes wrong.

Unless of coarse you could swing by with a ladder truck. I think that would do the trick. :D

Anybody want some big ass logs!

You will just have to keep them big ass logs for Moab next year. ;)

I am not sure about this but I don't believe insurance companies "value" your roof and only give you a portion. In a natural disaster like this they should just be covering your roof regardless minus your deductible. Only problem now is you have removed it.

Again not certain. DOT what are the rules on this mister insurance fancy pants guy. :D

We have plenty of pictures and video of it before it was removed. The break at the tree trunk is still clearly visable also.

Lauren was an agent before going back to school. She said that the Travelers adjuster would clearly see that our roof is approximatly 25 years old and at the end of it's life. Which would then affect the amount that we got from them. The cost of a new roof for our house really isn't that bad since the house is only 900 sq feet and rectangular shaped.

Also, if you file a claim it stays on your record even if they don't make a payout on it.

I could have taken that tree down just not the stump. I use to do it and had fun doing It. I have a 460 with a 4ft bar. I'm actually in the works tryin to start a tree removal business. I want to cater to fire mitigation though.
