The story starts like this - I leased the my 06 BSP Tacoma in late 05 right when gen 2 came out. First new car i have ever had. I put the daystar spacers on it, blacked out the windows and got new tires and wheels. About 500 miles on the truck some as*hole hit me going 80mph on the interstate and put us both into the wall like some nascar crash. No one was hurt but the truck was banged up. Lucky we were both going in the same direction and slowed considerable prior to hitting the wall. This happens when you have a minivan t-boned on on the front of your taco doing 70-80 mph. Crazy how it all happened. Wet roads probably saved all our lives b/c it kept anyone from flipping over.

The body work and paint was done the the toyota dealer. entire front clip/hood was replaced and repainted along with the cab section, windshield replaced etc. About 4 months after the truck was returned to me i noticed that the paint did not quite match. the new paint had a brownish tint to it. Being extremely anal about keeping it clean/waxed etc this always bothered me. I decided that rather than be without my truck for any longer i would just tough it out and turn the truck in as it was after the lease. If the dealer or lease company had a problem they could settle it themselves since the DEALER did the work and waranteed it for life.

When the lease was up about 6 months ago i decided that i would keep the truck as I love my taco and have grown quite attached. I did, however, want the paint to match in order to buy it off lease. So i took it out there again, they repainted with no questions and were very cool. Upon delivery of my freshly painted truck i noticed that EVERY window had been sanded and scratched. They kept the truck for another week, replaced all glass and had retinted. Again they were very nice but the new tint job was not as good as the orginal. and i was out of my truck for another week from a rookie mistake.
I was washing my truck the other day and noticed that the f-ing paint is turning brown AGAIN. WTF!!! It is obvious because the rear fenders were never painted but I did have the flares painted and they also look brown like the cab and doors.
It mathed when i took delivery. I looked over every inch. Should i have them repaint the entire truck so that i have a uniformly brownish truck in 6 more months! Arrrggghhhh.

Can they order new door skins/hood already painted BSP from the factory? ask them to paint it magnetic grey? what is reasonable here. Thanks guys. Sorry for the length. if it's in the wrong section i guess someone will move it.

Maybe get them to change the paint name to 'Brown Sand Pearl'? You'd be the only one with that color!

Either way, thats fucked man. Obviously they're being very nice, but someone has to see a trend here. Maybe ask them to have another dealer do it? Someone probably is thinning the paint out too much, or not putting enough coats on.

Maybe wait for some more BSP's to chime in... it could just be the paint too. Who knows.

Well, if you can see it clearly, and they can see it clearly, there should be no issue or hard feelings. Obviously no one wants their vehicle to be two tone! If you like the brown sand pearl, have the guy paint the whole thing to match... LoL!

I bet the clear coat is turning yellow on you. I would get a second opinion from another body shop on what might be going on, it might help you with your decision.

anytime you get part of your vehicle repainted it will never exactly match the factory color even if it is the same color paint....i actually work in the paint department at a honda factory....it is controlled conditions and the paint is dried going through huge ovens....when you go to an autobody shop it's air dry paint....usually they just blend it in so it will not be noticeable....i hit a deer in my honda car i used to have...they had to repaint one of the doors and sure enough if you look closely it doesn't match the rest of the car...the way it looks and even the color will look slightly different
