Ok, here is the rack layout. I designed it to fit the 35" spare, so whenever that is it'll be kissing the tote if the tote is wide enough, but it's not a big deal. just slide either over an inch and its fine. It looks like if I do it right the shelf will be long enough for that tote (my 4x4 box) and space for a 5 gallon water jug or 2 jerry cans or something like that. perfect. Final length is set at 37" (inside of tube measurement) the shelf where the red tote is in the picture will be 3" above the bed rail and made out of two legs that drop down with some cross bars and probably metal grate so whatever is on it can lay flat.

 

Ok Mark this is super quick and dirty but here's a 3D mockup. Tray for the spare tire with a slight drop to keep it level with the roof. Dropped shelf for a cooler/tote and a couple Jerry cans. There is one more bar I added to the side by the spare for your hilift to mount to, but I didn't put the hilift in the images.

 

Adam I am blown away...some how you have drawn up EXACTLY what I was thinking... you even got the exact same design i was thinking for the shelf, to the T.

Only thing I'd add is a bar running on the outside of the coolers and Jerry cans. Then you could mount the shovel and axe to it as well.

I'd make it so it held in the Jerry cans and cooler. Then have another bar drop down from that one and stick out just enough for the bolts to clear the cooler and cans. Then use the lower rail for the axle. Middle me for the shovel. Top rail just for holding shit in.

i was actually thinking of using the front and rear rails of the rack for the shovel and possibly ax. no sense in adding a ton of bars if i dont need to.
also im still keeping my hi lift on the bumper (for now, might relocate it to the rack if i ever build a head light hoop) but i like keeping the weight somewhat balanced so im keeping the hilift on the bubba gump lip for now

also possibly a bolt in bar??

 

Yea make the bar removable. Then sliding cooler in and out would be easy. I'd weld bolts to the rack and use large plastic nut handles. You can get em at ace. Just a small nut that has a plastic grip around it that's very large and easy to turn.

And actually putting the weight in the back is better. Leafs hold it better then your coils and last longer. And they are easy to beef up and the more weight the better they will flex. You'll need to upgrade with a rear bumper

 

the front is already maxed out height wise...i don't need it getting even higher.

 

Leaf packs take weight better then a coil over.

Why we still use em today and all big trucks.

Only thing better is adjustable air bags.

Not that coils can't take weight. But they wear out faster is what I'm saying.

 

That's cause you just have an AAL and wore out leaf pack paired with newish eibachs..
