    If you want the best seat in the house, you'll have to move the cat (then accept the fact that the cat will likely end up in your lap).

    Buy something for the cat, and it is ignored.
    Buy something for someone else, and it belongs to the cat.
    That is just how they are. They don't accept charity, they take what they want.

    We have bought many things for the cats over the years, and the only way any of them have played with anything has been when we have "hidden" it and allowed it to be discovered.
