Idaho BS thread in the PNW

I unfortunately have not done any wheeling up there. so I have no idea how technical the back trails get. I saw some pics matt posted a while ago of him running an atv trail and it looked pretty fun. so i would guess there is stiff there that is harder than fire roads, but im not sure on how hard they get. If I had to guess it would be all do able in a stock trd off road 4x4. It would also be very hard to find the actually challenging trails. that is another problem in itself.


the hardest wheeling is going to be in the southern part of the state, out in the owyhees by me in boise and that lava rock crap by brady in poky

Yeah, a lot of the stuff down my me, gives buggies a run for their money! There is some milder stuff as well though not as much.

same thing here haha. finding the mild stuff is hard! finding anything is hard for that matter. people don't post this shit online. I just snuck my way into the local jeep club and they seem to not have a problem with me joining. This way i can find some local trails that I can actually do, because there is a bunch of stuff out here that is way above any of our level haha.

already have a run on the 8th im planning on going on as well as the 13th. this really is the summer of wheeling for me haha!

 

what are ya going up there for? just cuz? what dates?

 

Visiting the G/f's farm is in Cottonwood. Heading up there from July 26 to Aug 4. Camping up near buffalo hump and maybe go wheeling somewhere in mccall.

 

Nice! Yeah I have a hard time finding anything between a fire road, and a "you really need an exo cage and 40's" type trail... One of the reasons why I like to hit up Shelley and the dunes in AF so much. Only places that really fall in between those two extremes around here. haha

 

hmm. maybe me and andy can hop on up there for a day, if we aren't to pressed for cash to go on the wyo trip that will be shortly after

yup. my armored truck on 33s with a locker is basically at the bottom of the spectrum here. unless i want to do easy stock difficulty trails there is only a handful of stuff i can do if i don't want to get tons of body damage. we shall see where these trails are at and how difficult they end up being.

the 3 trails im doing in july...meat grinder, diff hanger, and carnage canyon. really encouraging names...

 

I thought about going up to Mtn Home to do a run on Diff Hanger, but that seemed like too long of a drive for one trail. The other trail they were doing that day was out of my league according to the rating. haha

 

remember what the other one was? i think with all your armor and lockers you might be alright on some of the ones that say 35s. might just drag your t case and diff a bit

 

I'll look it up, but IIRC they said 35's and front and rear lockers at a minimum with body damage highly expected.
