Did you run out of duct tape? Every truck should have an emergency roll of duct tape.

Thanks for all the advice. Work is only 2 miles down the road. But I hammered (sp) in a peice of metal in the gap to keep it from breaking the other two. No duct tape got gorilla tap small roll tho . Is any other Toyota parts that are weak ? This is my 11th car I've owned and this is one I want to keep till the wheels fall off. But so far it's looking like they may fall off sooner then I thought.

If you read the TSB or any TSB it states that they will be done free of charge while within the 36K Mile/36 Month warranty only. After that it will be a customer paid repair.

So yes TSB's are tied to warranty.

NOT SAFE! If you need quick fix that's cheap, do a "WTB" post for "stock" leaf springs in your area. Most guys will take less then $50 for them. Lots of trucks here have changed their springs and have old stock shit laying around. I'd probably give you mine if you where not across the country.

Otherwise, Buy Dakar's or local shop built springs. Screw the dealer

Look safe for now if you're cautious about your driving. I wouldn't be worried.

Order up some leaf packs from Wheelers.

I would get a couple of big ass hose clamps to replace that rope, then I would be okay with it temporarily, as long as the main leaf (the one with the bolts through the ends) is intact. I would not load the truck down until fixed.

I did drive a Ranger with half the second leaf missing for several months before getting the spring pack replaced with a junkyard part. The portion of the spring that is under the u bolt area was not damaged.

Can't really recommend it, but I've done it, and didn't worry me all that much.

Unsafe! It looks like a braided synthetic rope that has a tensil strength of 200lbs if your lucky, also the granny knots won't last lol. At least buy some webbing from the liCal hardware store with tensil strength of 4,000 single wrapped. Throw some round turns and half hitches and should hold. I placed allpro leafs on my truck today and they ride like a dream on the pavement. Out the door picking up from the factory 497 with u bolt flip kit and stainless steel extended brake lines. Good luck!!!!

How about if the used truck is a Toyota "certified used"?

I Bought mine a year ago, CPO...I would love the TSB, but had written it off at this point..

Get one from a junkyard for temporary then get some better ones soon for a better fix.

But I would not drive that unless absolutely necessary. Like just to get it home. It wouldn't take much to pop that rope.

Only 2 miles down the road? You should walk then. Nothing like that breaking and causing an accident. when they find the "fix" might not be easy to explain to insurance.

Yea I should. And it's all down hill! But after working 10hrs in a steel fab shop you really don't want to walk up that hill. My ghetto rope fix is still holding! Hopefully leaf springs this weekend or next weekend. Ill post up with what I get. Might be a little taller. XD
