Yikes, that's nuts! Is that an area that is normally prone to flooding?

 

it flooded in 2005, though not nearly as bad. they're calling this the worst flood in Alberta's history.

I have always been under the impression that southern Alberta is typically dry so the flood seems that much more freakish to me. We flood almost every year in Manitoba being on such low ground and the destination of so many rivers that breach their banks nearly every year. That deluge in AB was not normal for that region.
