I guess the all powerful takes naps?

After being found with no pulse, I was not surprised that I seen no light either.

All God asks is submission of our own life. We trade our lives for His. We live out of Hos hear for others. It's a huge thing to ask when you think about it, to continually do what He did for us and others. If you look at Jesus strictly as a historical figure, He had more power of those in His time, and He was killed for it when He called everyone to peace. So, your theory kinda falls apart there Brock, they arent all bad :)

As far as the light at the end of the tunnel, I can't speak to that. Though I dod just meet someone who's now seen it three times. Three times he was pronounced dead, and God told him he had more for Him to do and had to go back.

Im a lil lost in ur wording there tbh.

He died cuz he had control, so admits defeat and gives up trying to defend the innocent?

    Stillbirth, sids.....what about that tho?
Isnt he still "taking" innocent lives and causing heartache to the parents?

    Why would he allow that?

Lol I knew you'd see it that way, and homestly, I don't know how to explain it better than Jesus did in the quoted scripture, I still think it comes down to how you're able to embrace the word 'believe'. And is it entirely possible for Hitler to greet you in Heaven? Yes. It absolutely is. God did not design Hitler to do the things He did. God designed Hitler to glorify His name. Hitler decided not to but there's nothing in scripture that says he's unwelcome so long as he takes the same path we all do. If you BELIEVE that Jesus was real and died for your sins then you have to in turn believe the Bible. Earlier in John it talks about how Jesus was the Word of God, which is referencing Genesis where it says the word was with adam and eve in the garden, but if Jesus IS the Word of God, and we have God's word (bible) then by accepting Jesus you have to turn from sin. Plain and simple. Its as attainable on your death bed as it is as a child.

Thats all a result of sin, and sin entered the world because of a choice that we (man) made thousands of years ago. I think God is absolutely broken-hearted over those issues. It is completely unfair. My brother just went through his second miscarriage with his wife and it's completely terrible. Its wicked. Its not as God intended it. But to change that He'd have to do something He can't and that's to change. He'd have to make us autonomous God worshippers, and He's too loving to force us.

True. A majority of those who call themselves Christians not only don't agree with what I posted, but they don't agree with the views of others who likewise call themselves Christians.

Many believed, long ago under Church teachings and authority, that the earth was the center of creation, and that the cosmos revolved around the earth. Early astronomical scientists who challenged such erroneous notions did so at the pearl of their own lives, often paying the ultimate price for speaking the truth.

The fact that "many believe" something proves absolutely nothing.

Christians once believed the earth was flat. It isn't. They believed killing those who opposed their teachings was something their God approved. It wasn't. In every corner of the world Christians and religionists of every stripe continue to believe things that are demonstrably untrue, things completely opposed to what actually is.

The Bible is NOT a book of science, it's a book of faith, a book of parables and ancient truth tales. Faith, because it depends for its outward form on the mind and notions of man, comes in every variety anyone can possibly imagine. The danger with religious "faith" is that it builds walls between men and nations, walls designed to separate and enslave the minds and hearts of people for the benefit of those few who dictate what form a particular faith will take.

That's the very reason that religious "faith", whatever it calls itself, cannot be trusted to reveal ultimate truth.

I seen a pic the other day.....
It showed the "evolutionary ladder" of man..... but it made a good point.
If apes were the start and we still have apes, and so far we are the end (homosapien), then what happend to all the steps in between?

Why did the supposed lowest form and highest evolved form strive while the intermidate forms vanish? The intermediate forms were supposed to be higher evolved than the apes so naturally shoulda survived while the apes perished yes?

    I dunno..... just another mystery

    Aliums?

Ill just continue on my day to day in the dark, doubt it would change my life 1 way or the other honestly, but it is interesting

As an engineer who has been taught to look at things from an empirical standpoint - I do not believe in God and fully accept the theory of evolution. We see evolution everyday when we look outside - to say that we as humans are immune to it (that we could not of come from monkeys) is a little absurd in my opinion.

I will go so far to say that God was invented by humans to explain the ideas and events that were unexplainable at the time. Without scientific proof, we are left with questions that do not have answers. What better way to answer these questions than to say that "God" is the reason? As science progresses and we are able to better understand how EVERYTHING works together, the idea of God will become a further stretch.

*Please note that all this is my own personal opinion and I would love to be proven wrong when my judgement day comes. I still live my life as a moral person and lend a hand whenever I can - not because some higher person is watching, but because as a whole we need to show compassion.

Just the same as all other religions. Same as with the Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. Deities have always been created to explain the unexplained.

I'm kinda disappointed but not surprised at the outcome of the poll...

I'm a recovering christian so I was raised in creationism but I believe in evolution after going against the grain. An article that I found interesting.

    http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/tech/science/discoveries/2010-03-24-NEWSPECIES25_ST_N.htm

    Some evolution.
    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/...ution-australia-lizard-skink-live-birth-eggs/

    http://www.newscientist.com/article...r-wings-to-survive-on-roads.html#.UcmZFTuceSo

Maybe it was a specific type of monkey that we evolved from, Perhaps in another several thousands of years the current chimps will evolve into another form of human.

They are already pretty human like.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...s-violent-killing-sprees-land-neighbours.html

They have the gang mentality like us, They have colonies and a hierarchy... Give any animal something to overcome in a changing world and farther down the road in another generation they will have formed something to over come it and it not be a problem anymore, Like the birds up there who's wings have changed in size to avoid being hit by cars... Were subject to evolution just like everything else.

More so, we live our lives like this because it's an evolved characteristic. It's really as simple as: Nicer people live longer and reproduce more, thereby promoting the trait in their offspring.

^ like you i was raised as a christian and taught that creationism was the only way and that God just made it happen, and that the Big bang theory wasnt real etc etc. I still believe in God and Jesus, but whose to say God didnt make the big bang happen, thats where i dont follow evolution, is that out of the blue random matter generated and formed the ever expanding universe. whose to say God didnt start evolution and it is a real thing, its just all been part of His plan or something. half the stories in Genesis are stories passed down through word of mouth and then written down and also written in order to convey an idea. God creating the world in 7 days could have been a millenium, people didnt know a day was a 24 hour cycle, syaing 7 days or 40 nights or what have you is just a place holder for a numbe rthey werent sure of. So i choose to believe that God created everything, but whose to say he didnt do it through evolution

yeah the Bible is ridden with mistranslations and misnomers and exagerations, i think the core meanings in the Bible were preserved, but there's no way a 2000 year old script assembled by the catholic church to gain power over the common people isnt going to be biased and have things left out, intentionally or not, for example, the book of Enoch, really interesting stuff that was rejected by the catholic church when they were deciding on what books to put in the Bible. I'd rather not be a sheep and follow the masses but draw my own conclusions from what i read and live my life the way i think im supposed to according to what i take away from it, and at the end of the day all that matters (to me) is if you accept Jesus as your lord and savior, other than spreading the love that He has for us and leading by example, there's nothing else (to me).

Do you people who believe the Bible as a verbatim historical text believe the Earth and Universe is only around 4000 years old ?
