Another thing that turns people away from christianity and has always bothered me is having it shoved down their throat or being judged by other christians because they're not saved. Leading by example and spreading love and kindness that Jesus did are the true ways to leading people to God, not judging them for their sin

No way, like i said in an above post, 7 days could have meant or been a millenium, those stories just make it easy for people to understand God's grace, I think they're a tool to convey an idea, true or not

Yes. But 6000. I'll see if I can find the poster on my wall in
Pdf form and throw it up here.

Also, it's always interesting to me how many people say 'I'll live my life well and sort it out judgement day'....where'd that idea come from? Lol no where in scripture does it say that if you do a good job you'll probably be able to get in. And nowhere in the secular community can you learn that one either....I always wonder how people came up with that, cause it wouldn't make me feel any better.

This is people's biggest concern with christianity, and it comes down to this: people. Man is fallen, corrupt, and sinful. We're capable of mistakes, ready to hurt, and seemingly poised to disagree. God knew the ten commanments would be impossible for us to follow as a means to get to heaven, so He sent Jesus to save us by His grace. We went from the Law, to grace.

The sin was disobeyong God in the garden of eden. We were told not to eat from one tree, and Satan deceived Eve and she gave it to Adam. That was mans first sin.

I haven't read back through the entirety of this thread, so if this has been discussed at all, forgive me.

Dogs are a great example of evolution and genetics...after all, evolution is simply long term naturally occurring genetic manipulation. Domestic dogs are a "new" species. Dates vary, but most researchers say that man "domesticated" the first wolves around 15000 years ago. The traits that allowed these otherwise solitary animals to live with humans ALSO were passed down and distilled in each subsequent generation, producing what we now know as the domesticated dog. Dogs share about 98.6 percent of their DNA with wolves.

The interesting thing here is that humans share about 98.6 percent of their DNA with chimps. Des that percentage look familiar?

Someone asked "where is the missing link?" "Why are there chimps and humans but no in betweens?" There are no in betweens for wolves and dogs either; the animals with the needed traits passed them on and the traits continued to distill into what dogs are now.

It's like vinegar. You start with wine or cider; it ferments. You have vinegar. You don't have what came in the middle. You've got one or the other, everything else was just a process.

I enjoy these kinds of discussions. :)

Our family came out of a "group" that was basically a cult, if women wore pants they got talked about, if a family went to see a movie they're get talked about, if you didn't go to every single meeting you got talked about and questioned if you were not as close with God.
If a family disagreed with what the "leaders" said and the "leaders" couldn't make them think they were right the family was "marked" to be avoided, as they were causing a "disruption" in the "group".

And i agree with you, that will (and has) turned people away from christianity.
We've been out of that group for 3 years now and i've grown spiritually so much more then i ever did the other 14 years we were in the "group"
    i agree with ben.

I think evil only exists because choice exists, and choice only exists because God loves us enough to give us one. Inevitably, we all choose separation and it brings us pain

Do you believe Noah and his wife managed to build a 500' long ark by themselves in a couple months too ?

Matthew 19:26 - But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mark 9:23 - Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.

The Bible says anything is possible, so yes, i believe it's possible.
