I just did a subscription for XM radio. Six months at $5.00 per month. Downside is they will do an auto renew at the end of six months for the then current rate, which is $14.49/month right now. Will have to call and re-negotiate before the six months is up. I keep hearing about people who have done life-time, transferable deals, or annual rates for $8/month. What deals have you recently done with XM?

When they first came out they were doing lifetime deals. I know up here in Canada they don't do that anymore, they still might in the USA. I had Sirus for a few years but after paying year after year I couldn't justify the almost $180 a year I was paying for just radio. If I spent that much in downloading music a year then yeah, but I don't. I find that if you spend a lot of time in your vehicle and not have radio stations or a music device to listen to then it would be good.

This is what I do.... I have it right now for $5 per month until Oct. When Oct comes around I will call them up and cancel it. They will give me 4 months for free if I will stay with them. I will tell them that is fine but I am going to cancel it after those 4 months are up. They say okay. I wait until the 4 months are up and cancel unless they offer another 6 months at the $5 rate. If they cancel then I just tell them that I will just wait until they send me another mailer wanting me back and they will give me 6 months for $5 again (this usually happens within a month or 2 at most). Until then I just listen to Pandora, I-Heart radio, or all my 14k songs on MP3. I have been playing this game with them for years.

I refuse to pay the normal price for sat. radio but $5 a month is worth it IMO. It is just a game you have to play with them.

I do this with my cable company. I got a good rate for moving into some new apartments. After my first year, I got a notice that my bill would go up by about $40 a month. I called and politely asked about extending the deal. When they said I couldn't, I asked them to transfer me to the cancellation person, and about 2 minutes later, I had my original rate, plus an additional 5% discount, and free HBO package for the next year. Not sure if it will work with Sirius since it's run by people as opposed to the hellspawn that work at Time Warner.

The thing that you have to remember is this.... It is easier for them to "keep" a customer than it is to bring a "new" one in. Play this to your advantage always.

*EDIT* You notice all the good "deals" to get customers in the door? You can get those same deals if you play the game right. I shouldn't be penalized for my "loyalty". That's the way I look at it. I just had to cancel AT&T Uverse after 5 years because they went up to $216 per month with all channels and the 6 mb download speed internet. I got Dish with all the channels for $70 per month with 5 HD receivers and the "Hopper" and upgraded my FiOS to 25MB download for about $100 a month cheaper than I was paying. The only thing I lost was "Smithsonian channel" which sucks but I got BBC in HD so I can finally watch Top Gear in HD.

LOL, my 6 months for $5/month was about to run out so I called them. They're giving me 5 months of service for $29 so I took it. Funny thing is, they gave me a rebate of $100 for the 6 days I had left on my service, so I'm getting 5 more months for -$71.64! That place is run by a bunch of retards. When I initially got my 6 months they were only supposed to charge me just over $30, they put an almost $400 charge my credit card! Had to fight with them for like 30 minutes on the phone to get it fixed.

Wonder if they'll catch they're mistake? I should probably do the right thing and call them back and point out the mistake.

Awesome man lol! The way I look at stuff like that (and I'm probably wrong) is in the long run it all comes out even in the end. They aren't losing any money I can promise you that. Look at it like this, the -$71 is payment for your 30 mins you had to fight with them and the frustration.

    *Edit again lol*

I ordered my $2500 gaming laptop off of Amazon a year ago and I paid $55 for overnight shipping. Computer didn't arrive the next day so I called them and explained the situation and they promptly shipped out another one and gave me a credit for the $55 for the overnight shipping that didn't arrive and also a $50 credit towards a future purchase. I was very pleased. Computer arrived next day as promised. Did a "Clean Install" like I always do on all my new computers and was set. Next day the doorbell rang. I opened the door only to see the UPS driver driving off and another huge box on my porch. The original computer I ordered showed up (fuckin hell!!!). I called Amazon and told them about it and they had no record of the second computer but I told them the whole story and they eventually found it. UPS came and picked it up the next day. I could have probably kept it and no one would ever know, but I would have, and I just couldn't do it. Especially since they bent over backwards to make everything right. That is why I signed up for Amazon Prime. They are that good of a company to me.

That's funny. I love Amazon. I use prime as well, worth it for the shipping savings!

Amazon is awesome. I had a kindle that broke a while back, the screen just quit working. I called amazon around 7pm, and my device was still under warranty. No questions asked (I never had to mention that my kindle had spent the past 6 weeks bouncing around the back of an armored vehicle in the desert). By the time I got home from work the next day, my new kindle was waiting on my door.
