Lift Kit for '09 DC Tacoma

Alright, hate to beat a dead horse but I'm probably going to ask some stupid questions and I hope you guys can forgive me. I recently purchased my first truck ('o9 DC Taco with TRD Off Road Pkg) after trading in a little civic whose oil I barely knew how to change so my mechanical expertise is absent.

I want to lift my truck 3". I use it mainly for driving but do some light off roading. I dont want to get a lift that sacrifices performance but don't want something made for racing baja either. I read the sticky on lifts and went through some of the problems that people may experience when lifting their truck (like needing a new CA, excessive CV Boot wearing) and would like to avoid the adverse affects of lifting.

As I understand the sticky, the front and rear need different type of lifts kits. It sounds like my best bet, from what I understand, would be a AAL Kit for the rear and not sure for the front. Am I right about the rear? What would be my best bet for the front? Whats the difference btw the Billy 5100's (front) and Toytec lift kit (front), as they both seem to be popular choices of members on the site?

Right, the aal sounds good for your needs. The billies can raise the truck by pre loading the stock springs (2.5 inch lift is the highest aprox.) Depending on which toytec lift you are talking about ie spacer/coils/coilovers you can get to 3 (or higher but not reccommended). I would say the ome springs/shocks with an aal from toytec would be great based on what you said in your post. UCAs will get the truck back in alignment which will put even wear on the tires and give slightly more travel.

To the OP - Billies set to 1.75 with a 1.5 AAL and the TSB leaf pack in the rear - is what I am going with. I have the same truck and also do very light off-roading (to none at all).

My reasoning...I have heard of too many set at 2.5" with driveline vibrations. Plus it leaves a bit of a rake toward the front end (similar to factory). If you are hauling something, it will level out and not be front-high.

Should cost around $350 or so.
