$14 a pair shipped. Not blue at all. Kinda yellow compared to CSjumpers LEDs, but a little brighter.

Wow, 1400 lumens! Those are 55w bulbs though. Somewhere I read that the bulbs without the black tips are meant for the overseas market, and I couldn't find any locally.

I think the black tip depends on the lights function. Example: Since most 9006's and H11's can be headlights OR fog lights, they have black tips.

But since most all H1 and H3 bulbs are used for auxiliary or fog lighting, they don't usually have the coating :)

Yeah, because the h1s and h3s are normally shielded, right? And there's no way of cutting the plugs off of those.

Who (on Oahu) does their own "build" work? Thinking of pulling the trigger on a pair of LR - UCAs, but would rather do it myself with some assistance and just have a shop do my alignment.

    1. Anyone put in a set of UCAs personally?
    2. After doing so, anyone still think it is worth it to DIY?
    3. Beers and Steaks for a build day??

Probably would switch out the front and do a 3" full OME front.

Funny enough, most of the H3 and H1 lights I have seen have no cut off shield. But the majority of 9006, 9007, ect that I have seen have shields in the reflectors, even thought he bulbs have the coated tips :D

I'm assuming that most fog and aux lighting don't have shields because they are not intended to be used on a daily basis.

I even have a set of 9006 HID bulbs that have the ceremic coating on the bulb so as not to blind people with glare. They are European from 2008 and the bulb itself is pulled from a D2R and placed in a 9006 base. Cost $200 back in the day but they were worth it, back then.

Xenon allows the bulb to burn a lot hotter than halogen, giving you more light output. But it shortens bulb life.

If its on my truck, I either made it or installed it, including UCA's :)

And Phil just did his UCA's not too long ago.

    I did my own OME 3in lift; 886 springs on 90000 nitrochargers + LR-UCAs

It's not that bad, i'd recommend cutting the head off the UCA bolt(bolt head facing front) and re-install it the opposite way (bolt head to the rear)

Super easy to do once you get over bending the sheet metal on your brand new truck! I just used some channel locks to make clearance for the bolt to fit through.

I think there may be no shield because of the shape of the reflector.

And D2R bulbs are shielded because they are meant to be used with a reflector housing. I have some D2Cs lying around that have integrated shields on the bulb, and they can be used in D2S (projector) and D2R (reflector) housings. Brand new 6000K, made in japan if anyone want to buy em off me.

Learned something new, thanks! I was just over the bulbs because they didn't fit snug after cutting the plugs off. Not to mention I popped two just trying to cut em off, delicate little things.. I'm pretty happy with the output and spread of light from the home depot bulbs. Want to check out Bulla's next time we meet up. Its like double the lumens!

    Oh boy...
I did mines.... its definitely worth doing it yourself.... but give urself a few hours tho. Its tight in that area at least for putting the drivers side back together.

Luka helped me with mine - cut my bolts and replaced them with new.

    :D

that was probably one of the hardest parts was cutting through it. I went through 4 metal demo sawzall blades to finish the truck. But now i have a pneumatic cut off tool which helps a lot :p

they are about a foot long easy. I thought the hard part was over once i cut the old ones... at least on the drivers side it was SOOOOO hard to get the new one back in the other direction. there are all sorts of lines in the way and it just sucks ...... BUT its worth it!!!

i never ended up bending the metal... probably would have made life easier

Yay, Nissan finally did something right! We use two ~4" bolts; one on each side of the UCA :)

Yea, pretty cool how there are so many HID bulbs out there from a long time ago! The D2R's were for the older Lexus's and Merc's from what I have seen. Even a few Acura's.

More lumens are always better :D
