I have a bible :notsure: I've been in ministry a few years and have always enjoyed debate as well as studying the smaller points of doctrine.

    I suggest you educate yourself.

The Crusades for example was a defensive move. And a brilliant one at that.

Search: Charles of Herstal, grandfather of Charlemagne...

    Also: Islamic Caliphate

Had those historical events not happened...we may all be speaking Arabic today. ;)

Why do you find choosing important?

It is only a choice since we are born into a world with religions. Without existing religions atheism isn't a choice but the default. We are taught the religion of our parents, or not.

um, hey bud, Religious war is ongoing....Middle-east, Ireland..hello...

Even our own country has religious tension, point: Westborro baptists.

The simple fact is if you have ever been to the Middle east you'd understand its ALL about religious difference.

    and not love.

I have to agree to a point, given children being taught and raised with beliefs and such, like I was in a large Norwegian Lutheran family, however, adults that have not been raised in a certain belief that make an adult choice to practice a religion do. My opinion

Right, but would you agree that it probably STARTED at some place good? The Westboro baptists most likely started as any quiet baptist church and devolved to their current state. Now they attract people who want to come to a place to corporately hate, instead of doing as Christ would and corporately love the homosexual community.

Edit: directed at post 1612 (threads moving quickly now)

    I'm going with this :

Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1][2] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.[3][4][5] Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.

No actually, their whole history is based on Biblical justified hatred. And 80% of their group is family members and, well lets be nice, others.

btw, protesting the graves of fallen soldiers that help protect your ability to protest....kinda confused on that one...

Science is based upon how we perceive the universe works, what is out there beyond your senses? Scientists have no clue where everything came from, so they theorized a "big bang."

Also try not to summarize an entire group of people. Do know for a fact that every one of the hundreds of millions of Christians "shun" scientologists?

Importance? I was just saying that people choose what they believe, or don't believe.

But they continue to try to figure out where everything came from. They base the big bang on many clues.

Yet there will never be an answer, simply because we are limited to our own minds and what we perceive. Things exist beyond what we are capable of even knowing about.
