I'd say higher rpm then that, stock is 3.07. And a constant locked locker will eat up mpgs

You know, I've been stalking this board for a very long time and there are some geniuses on here and then there are people that shouldn't have a license on here.... Let alone a breeding certificate

    ^Hey thanks

I have no idea what to do with this thing. After you mentioned Tundras.. I've looked and built them online multiple times a week. Fawk, 17mpg and adequate power > 18mpg and nada. Sucks to think of forefitting mods for a new truck, sucks more to think about continuing to spend money on something I'll ultimately part with. Thought I'd keep her forever, seriously- even if I had a kid, still keep the taco.. Idunno, I may hold off until Toyota offers a better dual vvt 4cyl tacoma and get an access or double cab.

I agree with you too. hell i dropped decent coin on my suspension. i was just saying overall capability. My point is the truck will get you where you need to go.

Aftermarket suspension won't toss you around as much, hammer the chassis, maybe won't scrape the undercarriage as badly. Maybe you over heat the shocks and you need to go slower.

How much bigger than a 265/75 do most people go without major cutting?
The auto-LSD will work. The stock truck will do most things maybe not as easy and gracefully as modded one. Lets be honest with ourselves it the tire that give the most added capability.

Yeah that .75" of added travel in front and the extra inch or two most people get in the back is a real difference maker...

It's nice to have but honestly how often will that be the difference in real world situation of not making it somewhere or finding an easier line?

listen, what i do with this truck has nothing to do with our conversation

with that out of the way, the difference between me and you is I use my truck to get from point A to point B. I don't give a puck how I get there. the truck is used to carry shit to a camping spot, mtbs, firewood, etc. My hobby is not the actual driving the truck off road. That is how this convo started, the guy being impressed how his stock truck got him from point a to point b.

You are overly concerned on how it gets there, the sport and hobby of going on the trail. again not the point of the convo.

yes very cool trucks and i respect what they are doing, you really dont think a stock 4x4 reg cab with 265/75s wont make it through that?

kinda off topic but still rc related, anyone over think about taking the back seat out of 03-05 4runner? and putting in 2nd gen tacoma? has the fold down armrest, the bottom would fold up for better storage/access under seat, 60/40 instead of bench, cup holders pop out the end of console, adjustable head rest, and fabric and martial are very similar and would match interior. not better than buckets but would be better than the bench, i think the back might not be as tall but its just a thought
