All dolled up with no where to go! I recently found out a huge classic car swap meet is happening the same weekend. I'm super torn you guys! Any good swap meets happen down by the beach, or on the way?

Also, we were going more like 90 to make check points, and I don't know about the others, but I got a solid 11-13mpg and not a drop more.

Nah, you and your hubby just need to come with us to SPI! Come on, this is a once a year thing. :D This year the beach should be even more packed with people considering the date. So it will make for an awesome entrance.

Also, some one told me that we should all drive down the beach with the head lights on for "more attention" grabbing. What are y'alls opinions about that?

Also I was thinking we should make the meet time at the Port Isabel parking lot around 12-1 pm. Last year it was 1-2 pm. And we got a little held up by going inside and buying the stuff we needed.

So if we were to meet at 12 noon at the walmart parking lot we would have to take off around 6 am from SA, give ourselves 1 1/2 - 2 hours to make it down to the Corpus area and meet with people from that area if the would like to meet up and head down together.

After about 15-20 minute stop we hit the road again for Harlingen, which will be another 1 1/2- 2 hour drive, where we can meet at the Walmart parking lot IN HARLINGEN for a fill up and see if anybody in that area wants to join our group.

After filling up we can all drive down together to Port Isabel walmart and meet who ever is there. :)

So 6 am 6:15 am the latest, we leave from SA

8:00 -8:20 am we meet in the Corpus area

We can meet at the south east corner of the walmart parking lot at this address:
    3829 U.S. 77
    Corpus Christi, TX 78410

We'll wait there for 15-20 minutes and head out at 8:30 am the latest.

After that if any body would like we can stop once again at the rest area just before the check point south of Corpus

at 10:15-10:30 am we will stop in the Harlingen Walmart to meet with people from that area. We can also fuel up there as well.

11 am the latest we'll head out to the Port Isabel Walmart and do the final round up there, go buy any last minute items, or we can pool our $$ together again to go buy everything like last year. Or if people are willing, we can buy the stuff before hand that way we don't kill too much time buying everything.

at 12 - 1 pm we head over to SPI. I think the last stop in Port Isabel will be the deciding factor at the last minute.

    What do y'all think?

Hmmm. Well, you do have a compelling argument, and my swap-meeting buddy did leave me high and dry for that weekend.

HTs are fine in sand, yeah? I'm thinking maybe leave the blue 4.0 and take our little 2.7 - Better gearing for your eyeball-burning speeds and gas-usage overall :p

Just my .02 cents....I would like everything 30 minutes earlier, just cause of the drive and all the time it's gonna take to get there at least us guys further up north cause its a good drive
I would like to be at the beach as long as possible plus this only happens once a year guys and gals

You and your two cents can F*** off!!!

    J/K man!

So you suggesting we head out together at 5:30 am?

If others agree, I'm definitely down to move everything half an hour or even an hour ahead of time. And besides, Nik has a point, this is a once a year thing, so getting the most time out of it sounds better.

Soooo what does everybody else think?

So Nik, does that mean you want to roll out Saturday morning too? :) You mentioned earlier heading out Friday.

Thanks for the words man! Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see the surf glow. Is SPI the place where you saw that happen?
