Sounds good! I'm a little out of practice with shrub selection, especially for this area but I have a lot of ideas :) I go with simplicity, something that will be easy to maintain because I don't want a garden that has to be constantly cared for, I want to plant it and forget it.

What a dumb-ass! Throwing away a great career like that

Billy, I'll have to show you some of the old plumbing and electrical pictures. It's a wonder that place didn't burn to the ground. There were open splices laying in the insulation in the attic! Not even in wire nuts, just twisted open splices. Plumbing had loops in it, like instead of one 90, it made a complete loop, then turned up the wall

So far, we've replaced almost all the wire in the house, put a ton of shut offs in for the plumbing and re-did the stupid stuff, the framing has been an on-going battle. Our back hallway dropped 3.5" in 8' We've been squaring stuff up as we go, many of the times just putting dummy studs in to sit in front of the old ones to make things square and at 16" centers. I tried my hand at spray foam insulation (cool stuff, I would recommend it for anyone looking to insulate a basement), been insulating everything else as I've gone. Fortunately, the PO had blown in done at some point and nice windows put in about 10 - 15 years ago. The joys of home ownership, even with all the headaches, I would never go back to renting!

Amen..nothing like having that which is truly your own.

Recently I bought that rubber mulch stuff, got tired of the stone washing away. So far so good, jury is out but at least the damn termites won't try to eat that stuff..

I am! I'm hoping it will add more torque. My truck is sorta lacking power recently.

I want one of those when I grow up but truth be told, I won't put in shrubs that have to be trimmed. I bought the Ryobi 18v battery trimmer and it works well for what it is. I only have a small row of shrubs out front so the battery option was nice and it's one less engine I have to keep running. I also have the Ryobi battery powered string trimmer. For small yards, they're not bad.

I'll go stone mulch but it will be much havier so it won't wash away. I'll also line the beds with edging so there is a lip that will keep everything in place and separated from the lawn. For mulch, I like stone. Very, very easy to care for.

I fired up the trimmer this spring worked till 1ish filling it a couple of times and that was it. She would start and idle but thats it, soon as I touched the trigger it would die. I had very limited time to finish due to schedule so I ran to lowes and came home with a better one to finish. I will look at this one once I slow down. I agree I like stone for mulch. The only issue I have is it is sinking back into ground. Yes it has been there prob ten years with no weed barrier but I have to do the rest of the yard so I can redo stones

You gotta use filter fabric with stone so the soil underneath the stones don't mix in. I'll be putting in a stone driveway and using geotextile fabric underneath for that very reason. Filter fabric is just basically a weaker (and cheaper) version of that stuff.

What kind of trimmer do you have (the one that quit)? Are you talking about a string trimmer or hedge trimmer?

Tube steps, bull bar and KC Hilites, trifold bed cover, variety of shifter knobs, comparing LED strip options, lift possibilities (prob 2 inch), and exhaust mods to tune growling on low end...
    hmmm, interesting idea...

i'm getting sold on the idea of LED bar somewhere front facing, so that i can use some flashes on that as a my own little "hey fellow tacoma" greeting...

subtle enough, but still adequate bling-wow factor also...

also, probably on par with my skill/ability level for diy mod to the tacoma!

    >>>> open to suggestions/recommendations of LED bars for this use

Are you meaning an LED bar for actual lighting, or just a light to get someone's attention but not actually throw light down the road?

I want to get a gas hedge trimmer but couldn't justify the expense. The battery one works surprisingly well but doesn't have the guts to cut the bigger stuff. I just have to work really slowly but one battery is usually enough to get the job done.
