    I second this. I LOVE chopping wood. Sometimes I bring a chainsaw and find a. If log and chop it anyway. Incredible workout. I will chop with you. On leg two we will just need to find a few fallen trees and bend them to our will!

    With all of the talk of food and stoves and cooking you guys realize that you'll need to have all of that stored IN the cab of the truck overnight right? Can't leave that stuff out. Keep that in mind when you're planning what to bring along.

    And last I remember you all like to sleep in to 11am :rolleyes: so I doubt anyone will have time for breakfast. Unless you'd like me to wake you up early.

    Oh, and I'll handle the coffee :spy:

    Just not a fan of it. I've tried it once before and I think it was overcooked and very tough & dry



    I'm an early riser so I'm usually up around 5

    HA, 11 AM on a wheeling trip?! wow. I'd like to be up by 7, 8 at the very latest. If not earlier, the sun does get up earlier.

    I would of course keep my food in my rig, that's a no brainer. I live here, I know how to deal wit da bears.

    If buffalo is cooked to well done then it can be tough. It has less fat so it dries out and toughens up quick. Burger isn't so bad but steaks and prime rib can be tricky to cook

    Yup. Both days on our Magruder trip last summer I was up long before the rest of the crew. I drove back a few miles, took some pics, drove back and they were still sleeping. The next day I got up and took a 3 mile hike before there was any sign of life at camp :laugh:
    :cheers: me too. I'm not a morning person but when the sun is up and the birds are singing its hard to stay in the tent for too long. plus morning is the best time for pics in that area so I'm sure I'll be out wandering around early.

    The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

    I'm out a lot and figure that I need to take all of the precautions that I can to be safe. I've never had a bad experience when I'm camping or hiking and I attribute that mostly to the fact that I am very careful about what I do & where I go.

    If you could make sure I'm up in time to make breakfast that'd be great haha. I wake up earlier than mos of my friends, but I doubt it's 7 am early.

    Yeah parenthood has me up much earlier than I used to get up. And teaching has really drilled it home. Up by 7, even when I don't work or have the baby around.

    Don't blame the buffalo if it was overcooked. It can be magnificent, but to avoid drying out I use it in chili and stew, stuff like that.

    I am only going for leg two. Hopefully you are going on that one too farmerjon, otherwise we will be alone in our choppiness.

    My hike through the wind rivers taught me about the importance of bear protection. I will be bringing bear vaults and leaving them in the cab overnight and might bring by bear spray just in case.

    Also for the BBQ I'd second beef. Cheaper meat, so more money for other things like sides or desert. Plus it really is not that much different
