    Seriously?

Evolution doesn't take place at a static rate for all creatures. Think about it this way, the airplane wasn't invented until 1903, and we put a man on the moon in just over 60 years after that. That's like a fart in the timeline of the history of just Man alone.

Conversely, there was also this little period call the Dark Ages, where intellectual progress actually went BACKWARDS for a period of, oh, 500 years.

So I think a couple billion years isn't a lot to ask of a few particles to get together, do some R&D, roll out a few prototypes and develop the most advanced lifeform currently known.

Im saying if that all was true, how can we have been apes for hundreds of millions of years and in a "fart" in the time of existence land on the moon. we didnt go thru millions of years of development in our intelligence. once language was there intelligence was right there with it. theres no inbetween period that would suggest out intellect evolving its like it happened over night.

Why did god wait so long?

    Universe 13.8 billion years ago.

    Earth 4.5 billion years ago.

    Human 0.00005 billion years ago.

If you were following along I tend to support intelligent design. not creationism.

Wow, this is a really interesting thread! Haha

I personally believe in creationism by God, but it is very interesting to hear others' views on how we came to be.

Humans of our basic form evolved 200,000 years ago, it took another 150,000 years later for the development of intelligence to have significant language, and another 30,000 years before written word. Seems like a long inbetween period to me.

No difference between creationism and intelligent design, besides saying it might not be god but a different creator.

Pretty sure it still took a couple thousand years between cave paintings and grunts to Sumerian cuneiform.

We, as a species, have experienced explosive intellectual gains since the invention of the written language? Why, you may ask? Because when information is written down, it is more easily disseminated, learned and passed.

So, as we evolved from apes to an agricultural-based species, our language has enabled us to expand our intellect as we were able to use it to express concepts more complex than "danger!" or "bird taste good."

So, when ideas, information, techniques and concepts are able to be preserved across generations without the errors and problems inherent to verbal communication, the intelligence density of the population grows exponentially. We no longer have to learn and re-learn the lessons those who came hundreds of years before us had to. We know not to eat that plant, it's poisonous, because it's written down -- and because we can go grocery stores for safe food.

But it's not a light-switch process. An ape doesn't just wake up one day and know his A-B-Cs, just like a human child doesn't. The difference is we aren't dodging predators and floods and fires wiping out our intelligence density and we can focus our efforts on other stuff like the rotation of planets and how I can fit 285s on my truck without rubbing.

3.9 billion vs 150,000 years is nothing. IMO. 100's of millions of years vs. 150K is nothing either.

Another fun pondering, why couldn't God, if He is all that He claims to be, simply make the universe look old?

Your credibility was gone long before you posted a link to a guy that explained the earth is 6000 years old, remember.

I'm not buying the idea that we came to be from some ooze in the depths of the ocean. How did our planet by chance become so seeded with life and liquid water and yet we have no evidence of it anywhere else?

*Hurr hurr, you are a dumb believer throwing your hands up*

Except that you're saying God is an alien at that point. Kind of diminishes His character to lump Him in with little green men haha

He could, so that is what you have to believe, since you have decided the earth can't be older than 6000 years.
