:notsure: how to respond to that honestly, at least it's something? Haha

No, had I not been through what I have and experienced what I have it'd be tough to make a case for it, but I can't deny those things happening, so all I can do is pray that it happens for guys like you (no that's not an insult, why would I not want you to enjoy heaven)

There's a lot more of a difference genetically between a single celled organism and a cave dweller than a cave dweller and a human. The bigger the evolutionary change, the longer it could be presumed to take.

I think you have the order of things backwards with regards to the development of language. Intelligence allows for language (not vice-versa).

Language facilitates the dissemination of knowledge, allowing future generations to learn (and do) more in a shorter period of time by building on things discovered by those who came before them, without those future generations necessarily possessing any more intelligence than those who came before them.

Regarding there being no "inbetween period that would suggest out [sic] intellect evolving" - sure there is. If you look at the fossil record you can see progress from the beginnings of our ancestors' use of tools, formation of societies, evolution of those societies from small packs of hunter/gatherers to agrarian, beginnings of art and so on and so forth.

Not in direct response to these posts I'd also add that I keep seeing references to man evolving from apes, why are apes still around, etc. Men didn't evolve from apes. Men and apes both evolved from something else that no longer exists. Common ancestry.

The concept is relevant to the earlier post that pointed out that evolutionary scientists assert that all living humans at some point in the past came from the same woman and suggest that as evidence of the accuracy of the Adam and Eve story - those same evolutionary scientists are the ones that say that woman was one of many and that all of them (among others) came from some other common ancestor at a point farther back than that.

On an unrelated note, reading the name "tostidos" got me thinking about chips and salsa. Those thoughts have now evolved into thoughts of an enchilada dinner and a couple of Coronas. Unfortunately it's the end of the month and my craving will have to go unfulfilled until I get paid on friday. Damn. :(

What you describe isn't faith and love - it's fear and the hedging of bets.

As to there being no risk for you in believing what you do... Perhaps not you personally, but there have been countless people throughout history who have used your and other religions as both the excuse for and the means to commit atrocities. Religion promotes divisiveness and hate toward those who are not members of a given faith.

Suppose there is a god... Any being intelligent enough to create life, and desiring of the attention (be it worship or other) of that life could reasonably be expected to make itself and its desires known in a clear and obvious way. Not doing so would be the equivalent of raising a baby to adulthood in a room of two way mirrors, watching from outside the whole time without making your presence known, then walking in one day and torturing that person for not acknowledging you or acting in a way that pleased you. Any being that would behave in such a manner isn't deserving of worship anyway.

Here's my rebutle, I've tried my damndist to find unicorns, I've talked about them, looked for themn drawn them, and read about them. Yet in my 30 years of existence have yet to see one or even find a glimpse of one other then in fables and fictitious movied. Just because I believe them does not make them exist. Faith, while cute and cuddly, is all you have where I have scientific theories, all tested against the hypothesis. I choose truth over fiction and ill be god damned if god goes against that.

A reference is great but the actual source is what will prove the argument.
and a waste of your time or you see the error of your ways?

2 clink on the wiki page lead to the source.

Tostidos will likely respond that the ESA source has probably been wrong too? The error was thinking he wanted an answer. It was actually benbacher that asked the question.

And it rains acid on Venus, I know its all cool and fascinating. Does the book of God give say a single word about our solar system being all there is? No.

If I believe he created this world, why wouldn't I think he created everything? Also, like I said, the Bible is not a complete explanation for every single detail in the entire universe.

I am glad that you have nothing to add to this other than a hateful choice of words. Poor decision.

Would you rather He forced us to love Him? It was the choice to not that He LOVINGLY gave that created allowed Hell to be created. Now He's done everything to save us from damnation and you won't accept it?
