Doesn't sound like a good friend to me..

I hate that..took 20 mins to do mine or longer with my little compressor.

Takes under 20 seconds a tire now

the last night my buddy got my bumper all painted up and I installed my 886s installed the bumper this afternoon and drove to the next town over which was 20 miles away so I could get a nut for the sway bar arm linkthat I manage to lose while installingand on that drive it managed to cut my cv boot and they did not have any in stock so I ended up getting a GMC model hopefully it will fit and I will be installing all this when I get off work at midnight then I Drive 20 miles to get home before I head to the laramie tomorrow afternoon

Highly doubt the gmc one will fit.

Shoulda just left it off. With the 886s I bet you wouldn't even notice. Did you get an aftermarket bumper?

No time for pics. Walking down to the shop now. I'll do pics tomorrow. Can the outer boot be replaced without pulling the whole shaft?

Good luck, I looked when I was in Laramie. Ended up just ordering some TG sliders from Addicted (around $170 IIRC) and picked them up the next time I was passing Greeley. They have recently moved into Fort Collins though.

So i managed to get the front CV shaft boot replaced the other night. I started at 1am and got done around 4:30am.

    before.....
    20130627_003203_zps7a05b7b6_6ac06e2aedc3ea9248d585e798b6ed4757efa033.jpg

I was prepared to pull the whole shaft but this was the only oil i had....Case IH, GM, and Valvoline....ended up not needing it.

This is how i got around pulling the whole CV shaft out.

The local parts stores did not have a toyota boot in stock so i took so rough measurements and headed to the back of the parts store and found this fella...It had instructions for GM and Chrysler...so im not exactly sure what it is for exactly

I had to take the inner roller joint off so i could get to the boots off.
Here is the new boot installed 20130627_033037_zps688b1e70_6aee8e723dfa8da4961efc0fcc67440c69485b4c.jpg

Only problem was that both new clamps were 1/2" short so i had to use a hose clamp and left over HD zip ties from my SC install.

Here is the tool i made to drive the outer cv off but i couldnt keep it held tight enough to be able to drive it off while still on the pickup.

Only problem i have now is it seems my inner is leaking a little grease now.

Hmmm..that new boot isn't going to last long.

Reason they blow usually is from the fins rubbing. That GM OME looks like it has more fins..and rubbing pretty good. If you go feel them you'll feel grooves I bet.

    Bumper looks great tho!

Anyone have any suggestions on places I should check out near Crooked Creek (Dubois)? I'll be heading up to my family's cabin middle August.
