And how old do you believe the earth to be? This is about Evolution/Creation.

Yeah that's always fun to point out, I also find it interesting that you God believers refer to jesus as God. Jesus was/is never God, he is the son of God. God is not rising again, jesus is. At least according to your book that is.

I believe what science proves to me through the scientific process. This process of research shows it to be billions of years old and that the very existence of creatures on it is but a spec in its lifetime.

But you do know they're completely the same right? Each one is fully God and fully unique. A paradox in our minds. But if I could understand God completely and perfectly, I wouldn't need God.

Oh, man why am I letting myself get sucked into this 'conversation'? Alright. A is A. Reality is reality, and regardless of how much we might 'wish' it to be otherwise, we are both (presumably of course) humans. Going with that as our starting point, we have no choice but to live as our physical nature requires. We have neither useful claws nor fangs nor fur nor speed nor eyesight nor sense of smell or hearing nor even basic brute strength to allow us to survive without using the ONE thing that does separate us from the rest, and that's our intellect--our ability to REASON.

That said, our cognitive ability comes with a price. It allows us to, not only perceive as no other creature on the planet can, but also conceive beyond our own ability to immediately understand. Even though we're capable of 'believing' in something just because we can imagine it, doesn't mean we should accept it as true--particularly since our very continued existence as a species insists that we use our thinking minds in order to survive.

You say there's no risk in believing what you do? I say the risk is monumental. By choosing to accept something which you have absolutely zero ability to prove (kinda like taking wikipedia at face value), is fully accepting that you, the very creature which absolutely MUST use it's cognizant ability in order to survive (unless of course you use mine [the royal "mine"]) are not capable of living up to your own nature.

So, putting your "faith" in something which you can only conceive to be real, while denying the very aspect of your own nature that gives you the ability to do so, is delusional at best and a crime against your own 'humanity' to me. Therein lies your "risk", but of course that only matters if you care about actually being what you actually are.

Being very much of a realist, I can say I don't really know which one to go for. I was never around to watch evolution actually happen, nor has anything ever happened in my life to lead me to believe in a 'God' (yet) aside from people around me telling me I should, which to me is one of our biggest problems in the world, people doing and believing in things just because someone told them to. So I don't really side with either one. If I had to though, I would say evolution, just because it makes more sense to me than Creationism...but then again, evolutionism had to start somewhere.

It is taught that religion shouldn't be crammed down the throat of someone who doesn't believe, instead they should just be informed. Let them find there own way and pray for them. I believe in that but I do know that many people try to force it on others.

There are also atheists who try to shove their point of view down our throats, and some who don't.

The first testament can be used as a historical book of you remove the falkaxy pertaining to that of God and muscles. If anything it is a great doctrine of the wars in the middle east, of that time. That and they had some amazing psychedelics back then.

The earth is at most 30,000 years old? 30,000? Really? Seriously? You SERIOUSLY believe this? Or do you just believe it because your mom, dad, grandparents, etc believe it? Because when you sit down and really think critically about it, with all the scientific knowledge we have in 2013, that sounds ridiculous. Do you really believe that half life of a carbon atom has changed in the last 30,000 years?

Do you believe in civil discussion, or do you always lash at out people? No matter how ridiculous it sounds to you, there is no reason to degrade someone over it.

6000 years is the believe of young-earth creationists.

Yes you have to deny a lot of well tested science to believe that.

Yet that is what 40-50% of adults in the US believe.
