Debating taking a job here. If it wasn't so damn expensive to live here I'd move tomorrow.

 

after living here for 16 years and 11 months, i'm convinced that once we move away i'll never move back if i can help it.

I've left a few times, yet here I am.
Expensive? Yes. Knucklehead liberals, too many Prius's, fuct up economic state, impossible to have a healthy business, abundance of society leeches, the list goes on but it's home, everything I love is here or within reach so I pay the price but the day will come when that price is simply too high.

 

Yea, I keep kicking around moving to another state...would be alot easier to get into a PD I feel since I wouldn't have to mess around with POST and all that...but, as much as I hate CA sometimes...I'm still here for a reason

Really? They're super hard to get into a well, or so I've heard. Plus, I just had a really bad experience trying to find Info from them...

Went to the CHP office off PCH...they made me wait for about 20 minutes...just to tell me "Sorry, to to another location" when I asked to speak to an officer/recruiting guy...really I just wanted to ask about the every day job...so anyways, I go to the other location , in Kearny Mesa...I call as I'm on the way and try say the recruiting officers are there...I get there...am told to wait...20 minutes go by...then the lady leans out and is like "oh, hey, are you the guy that called about recruitment? Yea, they're not here today...come back tomorrow?" ........are you fuckin' kidding me. Wouldn't even give me a recruitment packet of some sort, or a website to go to.

That and their recruitment is so hit and miss about when it's open. Last time I tried to apply online...they only accepted applications for like 7 minutes...I know because I was on there and it took me like 10 minutes to fill mine out...Recruitment opens at 0700...closed at 0707....WTF people

 

Maybe they're testing you. Officers have to deal with very stressful situations, So they've presented one to you, and due to your obvious annoyance you've failed! Time to apply to a mall security job.

 

Doubtful. Just not a big fan of CHP. Every other place that I've applied to, as soon as I walk in the door and ask for a recruiter, I get one. Soooooo yea, if that's CHP's first 'test' as you call it, then I guess I'm not cut out to be a traffic cop the rest of my life. oh woe is me.

 

cant be picky and choosy here in socal when it comes to a LEO career, just apply everywhere, get hired, get experience then try to lateral over to a department you would like to work for (easier than it sounds ...I know). But you have a ton of options, 6 different counties with multiple departments.

don't be so quick to throw CHP out the window, chippys make really good money with their OT, plus they're the states "capitol police" in sacto, they provide dignitary protection to Californias elected officials, and provide police services to the state run courts/facilities. Also you cant lateral over to CHP, its their academy or nothing.
