Working on that

There are 2 trails we know for sure we want to do. Poughkeepsie Gulch is one and Black Bear pass is the other. Both can be built upon. For instance, depending on rig count and weather, Poughkeepsie should take a half day and from there we can explore California Pass and Animas Forks Ghost town. On another day, would do Black Bear and maybe explore Telluride, then finish by exploring Ophir Pass on the way back to Silverton. Black Bear road is one way so we can't go back the way we came even tho that would be awesome.

Just that will consume at least 2 of the days we will be there.

edit: I think Imogene Pass is another way out of Telluride too. I think it heads back toe hiway 550 so Ouray or silverton are nearby.

So really we are only gonna do like half the loop

 

you guys down with new bees im thinkin about leg 1 ive been up morrison before and goose lake trails before on a dirt bike that being said i woldnt be hitting the switch backs but everything else.last summer morrison switchbacks not in bad shape upper portion was rougher than ive seen in past years big loose rocks everywhere... once ur up the hill like a highway it would be cool to meet some new offroaders

Yes, the poughkeepsie gulch trail branches off of the engineer pass road not far from the highway. So even though we access it that way, we are not going to engineer pass that day.

I'm thinking we will have at least 3 full days to play around down there, right?. Certainly one day we can use to explore the rest of the alpine loop along with engineer pass.

I would really like to spend a little time in Silverton too. Have heard it is worth checking out.
