Any one own a set of Wheeler's Heavy Duty Toyota Steel Wheels? I want to transfer my TPMS sensors over. I have the sport package with the 17s wheels. My new wheels are 16s Tire shop said my sensors might not fit on my new wheels. I want to make sure before coughing over the money.

From what I've heard, you can spin them 180 degrees and they will work with steel rims. Don't have any direct experience but I'm sure someone that does will be along shortly.

This is what we had to do at the dealership when people brought us in new aftermarket wheels where the TMPS wouldn't fit. We never had an issue.

concern if spinning the 180 will be an issue while off road or lowering tire pressure.

It's position should not change how it works. It just reads psi. The location/position of it wouldn't bother it I don't think.

I'm concern the sensor won't be "protected" by the rim as they wont lay on the rim, but might be the only way of going about this.

Yes it will be more vulnerable offroad but that's the risk you take.

I had it done today. It does work with the TPMS that come in the sport package rims on to these rims.
