Just right click in the image and choose "copy image location". Wording may vary depending on what browser you're using. Then just paste that link into your sig.

The 15kb 5000x250 size limitation is for sigs hosted by the TW servers. I host mine on photobucket so it can be a larger file size (302 kb for instance).

Hey tupper, I know you did a sig pic for me a while ago, but if you're bored and you want to play with a few of these and see what you come up with, that would be great.

Ok, I didnt see anything like that, (IE) but I saved it to my photobucket, when I try to use the link in the option 1 space, it says remote file too big. I managed to use the link and post if directly in my sig and it works, but now when you click on it it takes you to my photobucket, not my build.

In your signature box in your control panel, single click on the image (or highlight photobucket link) and then click the little globe icon in the tools above. In the little window that pops up, insert your build page link and click enter. It should link to your build page after that.

That just puts the link in the sig, but as a link form, if you click the picture it still goes to photobucket.

Try saving the image from your photobucket and then re-upload to TW gallery, then try the new link? Unless you've tried that already.

I've had that happen to me before on my sigs. Try and click the globe icon again and re-insert your build link. Sometimes it takes two times of pasting the link in the hyperlink tool for some reason.

There is no detail on the badge. So, it's jibberish up close. JPEG compression artifacts on top of being too small.

That's ok, it was just a iPhone pic anyway, thank you so much, very nice work.
I like it, I'll have to ask her what she thinks.

This sig pic took about 10-15 minutes. I assume you're familiar with PS as I've seen you contribute quite a while here so I won't bother with a step by step on how to do each step, but I'll give you an overview of the steps I took.

I create all my sigs in a large format and resize when completed; this gives me room to work and details easier to see. I also create all my work as .PNGs to enable transparency. This allows the shadows and dithering to "play nice" with whatever color background the forum places it in. (see how it maintains transparency on the main post and in the quoted reference?)

    Ok, so here we go.

    New image at 3x resolution.

    Import source image.

Isolate truck, move to new layer. (then hide)

Clone out truck in imported layer.

Rectangular selection around desired area of image and delete the rest.

Duplicate background. Free transform vertical flip. Motion blur. Add gradient mask and adjust opacity.

Add shadow between background layer and background reflection layer. Motion blur horizontal for fading.

Show truck layer. Defringe by 1 or 2 pixels (depending on size of source image). Select wheels and move to new layer. Transform vertical flip and add gradient mask after moving into proper location.

Add shadows between truck and wheel reflection layer...oval selection filled with black and motion blurred...adjust opacity. Do the same thing with the body/frame shadow. I usually reference the source image for this so it's "realistic."

Burn tool set to "shadow" to darken the blacks in desired area.

Merge all but the white background layer.

    Delete the white background layer.

Resize to desired size. Save as .PNG.

Is that good enough for you? If you need any other explanation or I didn't cover what you wanted to know, ask away.

I was "head graphics guru" at the Mustang Forum I was active on when I owned the stallion...at that point I actually had a series of YouTube screencasts on how to do some of this stuff. If this is something people here might be interested in, I could look into doing it again.

    :)

I'm self-taught, too. Actually, a friend of mine just authored a book he's getting a lot of press for about learning to do things on your own (which I'm a big proponent of). You should check it out! I'm not sure I'm allowed to post direct links, so check out "The First 20 Hours" on Amazon if it sounds like something you'd be into.

I'll see about recording a few screencasts and posting them up. Are there any topics you'd like to see covered?

    :)
