Those in power with printing presses simply put in or remove the bits they like or dislike most in accordance with their personal desire to control others, or as they may like to characterize it, "upon my toast did I sup when behold, there the image of Bucephalus of Canaan appeared unto me, and said unto me "invest in plastics, and while you're at it, kill the people over there with all that gold."

I have been educated on the subject, went to Roman Catholic schools from kindergarten through grade 12.

seems awfully disrespectful to alter the words that were inspired by God.

Reading the Bible isn't going to suddenly convince me that the Earth is 6000 years old , mankind was made of dust and ribs and Noah could build a 500' boat with ancient tools then walk over the entire Earth and round up 2 of every animal ( bears included )

"reading" the Bible probably wouldn't convince you of anything. being a "student" of the Bible...one could find spiritual inspiration and enlightenment...

    especially the New Testament.

That knife can cut both ways, though.

Being a student of evolution and scientific theory can sure garner a lot of appreciation and enlightenment in those areas as well, were one to invest the effort.

Wasn't directed at you personally. I thought about that as soon as I posted it. Sorry if it came off that way.

More in general terms. I know lots of people who fervently preach the bible, but have never cracked a biology book in their lives.

And physicists who have never entered a church. Hard to make decision about something a person has no experience with.

Actually, I guess it's not really that hard. Just...not very bright.

Yes, I quoted myself. This thread moves so fast I wasn't sure I could keep up...

If you believe in the theory of evolution that's fine, I could never and have never changed someone's mind on the matter. I am simply responding to the poll. If I made typos, and I certainly did, sorry about that. I understand the theory of evolution just fine and will never accept it. I think Darwin was highly doubtful also, which he states in 'Origin of The Species', he came up with a theory nothing more.

If all you get out of reading is words, I have to think you are not a fan of literature
