Two galaxies collide. Yes, the collide... don't ask me how but apparently they do and I would imagine it's quite catastrophic. Something else amazing abut the picture is look into the background and notice the other galaxies... Mind blown yet?

I personally find this image and images derived from the computer simulations the most fascinating. If you search Cosmic Web, you will see all galaxies are in fact interrelated and appear along a web formation. It emphasized the vast amount of things we have yet to understand. I'm less sold on the big bang though, just as I am not sure the universe will expand endlessly. But who knows. Astrophysics is fun to think about.

I would love a space section!!! Im such a geek when it comes to the subject of space... anytime there is something on tv about space im glued to it.... its just so interesting to me, the vastness... it boggles my mind that we as humans are a blip on our "massive" earth, which is a blip in our "massive" solar system, which is a blip in our "massive" galaxy, and so on...wrap your mind around that and your head will be spinning.... we as humans are smaller than atoms compared to the universe, its such an amazing and maybe unsettling thought :D

LOL Asking a Scientific Question and using Fox News as your source LOL

Of course it is possible. It is highly arrogant to think otherwise until proven incorrect.

    we've found thousands of exoplanets

there's more galaxies than there are grains of sand on all the world's beaches... then there's billions of trillions of stars in those quadrillions of galaxies...

    I agree with pete.

Indeed and finding more everyday. We think there may have been life (and still might be) on Mars. They might be eukaryotes but if you believe in evolution (if you dont pls dont bother responding because I will ignore you or shame you) then it all has to start somewhere. If it has existed in more than one planet in our own solar system then.... logic would perceive that it is at least possible

yes they do collide, it can be catastrophic, but to show how vast galaxies are, my astronomy professor said that the Milky Way and our sister galaxy Andromeda will collide one day... but there is so much space in the galaxies that our solar system would be virtually unaffected... apparently we, in the milky way, are colliding with a galaxy as we speak also.... http://news.softpedia.com/news/Milky-Way-Already-Colliding-with-Magellanic-Clouds-77906.shtml ....that is an amazing thought....our galaxy colliding with another, yet we live our daily lives...

idk. I think it’s more then a 50/50 chance that there is other life out their other then just us.

I also think there is a slight chance that we have animals here on earth that we don’t know about.(yes possibly big food) seams like every few year they find new sea life. and also new land animals.(most are small, like salamanders, and, bugs. new river/creek animals like new frogs. ect) I think there is still a lot to learn about earth let alone space. especially the far reaches of space. (past the moon, and mars and all that) hell Pluto is not even a planet anymore, i remember when they thought there was one past pluto called planet X or something.

Yea you figure by the time they collide, we would be advanced enough to find another planet to live on. Or at least other life forms might pick us all up in their GMC Yukon and take us to another planet.
