I'm guilty of using it too, but every time I do, I think to myself "What the hell did I just say? I'm smarter than this!"

 

"I'm not in the mood"
"I have a headache"

Those damn smoking commercials with the old bird that has a hole in her throat. They are annoying to the point of changing the channel just to watch a different commercial.

 

Old school. Don't have any ideas to run up the flagpole at this point in time.

 

I hate it when people say, "that's a mute point."

It's "moot point!"

A lot of the southern sayings..

"Cut the light on".... Pray tell us how one cuts power from a circuit and expects the lights to turn on..

 

literally translated from french to english, turn on/off the lights comes out to "open/close the light"

This is understandable as you can Open/close the circuit. When you open or cut the circuit the light turns OFF, not ON..

 

The word for close is 'ferme'. It's used in the same context as 'ferme la port' which is 'close the door'

 

I don't see where this is going? Close the light (French) == close the circuit == light ON, Open the light (French) == open/cut the circuit == light OFF.

You can't open/cut a single switch p Boone Taco) circuit and turn a light ON.

But what gets me is when people use the term "literally" when they mean figuratively... i.e. I could literally eat a whole horse. NO YOU CANT.

I completely agree, just had to be an ass.

 

When people say they work so hard, 80+ hours a week, yet all of their posts are of beaches and wheeling.

I know auto mechanics who brag that they put in 80+ hours in a single week. They get paid by the "book hours" per job. If the book says a water pump takes 2 hours to install and they can do it in one they can double their time.. They don't actually work their paid hours.
