Heavy foot mod? For some reason, I just can't help keeping my foot from pressing the pedal all the way down.

The exhaust system would just make it worse. That URD intake sounds so good, that I just like to hear the vroom.

Hey Baja, you can lift your truck as much as you like without effecting your fuel mileage. Well, with the exception of heavy aftermarket parts that is. But the culprit to guzzling your fuel will be TIRE SIZE. When you jump up to larger tires, there's where your fuel goes. But I'm sure you already knew that. Just a little FYI is all......Hey I get about 19 city and maybe 22-24 hwy with a few mods, but I still love my truck, at least it's not a Diesel, thank God.

Agreed, that increasing tire size or even going to a more aggressive tread-design reduces mileage in a noticeable way. A lift might, by itself, have a small negative effect on mileage due to increased aerodynamic drag.....a taller vehicle pushes more air than a lower one, but it won't have nearly the effect that bigger knobbier tires will.

WHOO!! I think they've switched back to summer gas in my neck of the woods. Got 19.55 mpg this last tank, compared to the 17-18 mpg, I've been getting since january.

after installing my K&N drop in filter, i noticed my mileage go from between 17.5 and 18.1 MPG to between 18.6 and 19.1 on the same trip going between college and home. its about 240 miles each way. pretty nice increase if you ask me. oh, and these trips were about 3 days apart so the weather was very similar, one home and one back to school. (home is 4200 ft to 5200 ft elevation then down to sea level, going back to school is the opposite) cant wait to see what an exhaust can do for me when i get enough money for one....

Since getting my Scangauge I've determined that my mileage is pretty good...22 city. I've also noticed that it goes to hell (17mpg) when my 16 year old son drives it :)

I've got 1500 miles on my bitch. I'm still averaging 12 mpg. Looks like I'll be needing new tires and brake pads pretty soon also.

Ouch, that doesn't sound too good at a number of levels , but I'm kinda assuming that you meant to say 15,000 miles, not 1500?

No I really mean 1500 miles. It's not the trucks fault that I get low MPG, it's my driving style. Same for the tires and brakes. That's just the way I roll:D

 For tearing thru a set of tires and brakes in just 1500 miles it sounds like you're mileage is fantastic!

I took a trip from Texas to Louisiana, had 2 people in the truck with about 200lbs of cargo. Was using 93 octane (10% ethanol), had a 25-30 mph South wind, I was traveling East. Best mpg was 20.9, 100% interstate with 1 stop.

I just filled up with 93 octane with 10% ethanol and I'm getting pretty good MPG so far. gone a hare over 60 miles, and the needle has just dipped below the full line. Still to early to know, have just over 400 miles on it, and just put in its first tank of gas since leaving the dealer.

I was heading home after having a Leinster Burger (Bacon and real blue cheese) washed down with a Guinness at Aiden's Pub when the fuel light came on at exactly 470 miles. Since it wasn't out of the way I filled up at 473.7 miles with 17.735 gallons for a tank that netted 26.7099 MPG :bananadance:

I have a new 2008 Access cab - I use 89 octane and am getting what I think is exceptional milage - it is dependent on how fat i travel - but here are my results
    70 mph = 25 mpg
    65 mph = 28 mpg
    60 mph = 31 mpg
    55 mph = 34 mpg

Anyone else getting these results -

    I have a 2007 regular cab I4 2.7

    70 mph = 26 mpg
    65 mph = 29 mpg
    60 mph = 31 mpg
    55 mph = 34 mpg

*note: drafting behind semi's and tour busses = 10 mpg increases (according to the scangauge)

Yesterday I filled up after 474 miles of strictly in-town driving and topped it off visually. Gallons indicated on the pump = 15.4

I was shocked. That equates to 30.7 IN TOWN !!!

I use hypermiling techniques and it seems to work.

Castrol synthetic, Mobil-One filter, tires aired up to 38 lbs cold, shift before 1900-2000 rpms, accelerate very easily, coast in neutral to the stoplight or stopsign. Sometimes I even "skip-shift" from 1st to 3rd and I try to get 4th asap.

Accelerate and decelerate smoothly. Pretend there's an egg under both pedals.
